Jason Momoa, who is preparing to play Lobo in the new DC Universe, has reportedly landed another exciting role. He’s teaming up with the creator of Sons of Anarchy for a new, intense drama series focusing on New Zealand’s motorcycle gangs. Momoa will also be working with someone he’s collaborated with before, and the show promises the same kind of compelling stories about loyalty, family, and life outside the law that made Sons of Anarchy so popular.
Jason Momoa is set to star in a new action-crime drama called Nomad for Apple TV, according to Deadline. The series comes from Kurt Sutter, the creator of Sons of Anarchy. After seven seasons following the complex biker Jackson “Jax” Teller and his motorcycle club, Sutter will explore similar themes of family and intense drama, this time focusing on biker gangs in New Zealand.
Sutter and Chris Collins, a producer on Sons of Anarchy and a writer for John Wick: Chapter 3, are currently writing the pilot episode of Nomad. Collins will also be the showrunner. More information is coming soon, but here’s a look at what Nomad is about…
A tough biker caught between his loyalty to his gang, his sense of duty, and his family must choose what truly matters to him in the dangerous world of New Zealand’s outlaw motorcycle clubs.

From 2008 to 2014, Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy told the story of a motorcycle club and its members in the made-up town of Charming, California. The show starred Charlie Hunnam as Jax Teller, who starts to re-evaluate his life, his loved ones, and the club after finding a journal written by his deceased father—the club’s former leader—outlining his vision for its future.
The TV show Sons of Anarchy ran for seven seasons and became highly praised, now considered a classic by many. It spawned a spin-off series, Mayans M.C., and although fans have often wondered if Jax Teller might return, creator Kurt Sutter is now focusing on a new project called Nomad – and he’ll still be involved with motorcycles!
Jason Momoa seems like a natural fit for the lead role in Nomad, especially considering his previous successes with Apple TV’s See and Chief of War. He’s also staying busy with several other projects: he’ll reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in Dune: Part Three, play Blanka in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, team up with Dave Bautista for the action comedy The Wrecking Crew, and join the DC Universe as Lobo in James Gunn’s Supergirl next year.
