Fans are eagerly anticipating the streaming release date for The Running Man 2. The original The Running Man is based on a popular 1982 novel by Stephen King, who published it under the name Richard Bachman.
This futuristic sci-fi thriller takes place in a world controlled by powerful media corporations. Glen Powell stars as Ben Richards, a father driven to enter a dangerous game show called The Running Man. He’s hoping to win the $1 billion prize to pay for his daughter’s medical care, but to do so, he must evade both trained killers and everyday people for a full month.
This isn’t the first movie based on the novel. It was previously adapted into a film in 1987, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Here are the details on when the sequel could happen.
What is The Running Man 2 release date estimate?
The sequel to The Running Man, currently titled The Running Man 2, is expected to be released between 2028 and 2029. This timeframe depends on how well the first movie performs and how long it takes the studio to make the second one, assuming they decide to move forward with it.
Stephen King’s original novel concluded the story completely, with no follow-up books. But if the movie is a success, the studio could create a sequel. Like HBO did with ‘IT’ by creating ‘Welcome to Derry’ and adding new characters, Paramount might do something similar with this film. However, this is just rumor at the moment, and nothing has been officially announced.
The Running Man 2 news and updates
As of now, Paramount Pictures hasn’t confirmed whether they’re making a sequel to the movie. It currently has a 63% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Facing competition from films like Predator: Badlands and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the movie needs to do well in theaters to get the go-ahead for a continuation of the story.
The next installment of The Running Man might star Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Jayme Lawson, Lee Pace, and Sean Hayes, along with other actors.
