Okay, so if you’re at the point where you can decide whether to kill Shroud or not, that’s huge! It means you’re practically finished with Episode 8, and even better, you’ve steered clear of the bad ending – you’ve actually won! It’s kinda crazy, but even though it feels like this massive decision, whether you kill Shroud or not doesn’t actually matter all that much in the end. I was so stressed about it, but apparently it’s not as crucial as I thought!
Kill Shroud or spare him in Dispatch Ending
Shroud, whose real name is Elliot, is the central villain in Dispatch. You’d expect his story to be crucial to how the game ends, wouldn’t you?
If you’re given the option to kill Shroud or let him live, it proves Invisigal is one of the good guys. This is the most crucial part of the ending – she represents whether the story has a happy or tragic conclusion. If she were evil, she would have killed Elliot herself.
Choosing to kill Shroud won’t significantly change the game’s ending. While the game will acknowledge your decision – characters will remember it – this is only noted briefly, appearing just twice in the ending sequence.
- During Chase’s interview for the TV. Briefly, though. And your friend definitely does not hold your decision against you.
- During conversation with Blonde Blazer – she will ask you how you feel about killing Shroud. She will also tell you that you are suspended and there is an investigation ongoing in your case. But at the same time she tells you that it is a formality and her tone suggests that it is nothing serious.

Your decision doesn’t have major repercussions, at least not right now. It would be great if future seasons allowed our choices to matter, but for now, we can only hope!
Let’s consider letting Shroud live. You’ll be portrayed positively in Chase’s interview, naturally, as a hero. Ultimately, it’s better to spare him if you want to be seen as the good person. However, the impact of your decision isn’t that significant either way.
