In Cronos, while there are plenty of boss battles, even seemingly routine fights can prove challenging. Let’s delve into one particularly arduous encounter – the morgue showdown hidden in the hospital’s basement depths. This guide will provide you with strategies for confronting monstrous enemies and overcoming obstacles that may arise during this intense battle.
Preparing or the fight in the morgue
During your primary mission, you’ll come across the hospital morgue. Your objective here is to concoct the toxin. Along the way, The Traveler needs to ignite the biomass and navigate through a door secured with a padlock. The entrance to the morgue will be on the left side.
Prepare yourself for the upcoming battle at the designated save spot, located on the upper level of the hospital. The most crucial item to gather is a significant amount of ammunition, particularly for your shotgun or any other weapon suitable for close-quarter fights. You can find this ammo in your stash or purchase it using the workstation and game currency (energy).
Furthermore, we recommend bringing certain medications, Torch Fuel, and Pyres (moving-activated mines). It’s also important to be aware that the game autosaves upon reaching a location with a padlock, so planning ahead is beneficial.
How to survive the battle?
In the morgue, make your way to the office room where the key for the hidden passageway, known as the Underground Corridor Key, is kept, specifically the doors that have been recently sealed off. Upon returning, you’ll find yourself stepping into an alternate reality – the Orphans will start materializing in the same room.
The two main challenges in this battle are the limited fighting space and the absence of explosive containers like barrels or cylinders. It’s hard to use the environment for easy enemy elimination. Additionally, the Traveler is unable to leave the morgue until all the creatures have been defeated, at which point the exit will become accessible.
Act promptly in confronting the monsters, as they’ll continually show up at the morgue. If you linger, you risk overcrowding the small space with ‘Orphans’, making it challenging to navigate and engage with enemies effectively.
Consider primarily using Charged Shots, only firing regular ones at swift monsters to conserve ammunition. Remember, there isn’t an abundance of supplies within the morgue itself and not every slain monster will yield loot. Instead, rely mainly on the supplies that you’ve brought along with you.
As a fan, I’d caution you to stay vigilant and avoid creatures capable of spitting corrosive substances. Whenever you sense danger, swiftly seek cover behind substantial objects such as pillars or large debris. Moreover, be wary of acid patches; they vanish after brief moments, but can still cause harm if stepped on.
In the course of this battle, a more substantial Orphan is set to enter the fray, posing as your most significant adversary. To tackle this beast, employ fire to ignite it temporarily, then switch to a heavy-duty weapon like a shotgun. Fire proves beneficial not just for subduing this creature but also other monsters that may appear. If you possess Pyre mines, strategically position them ahead of the approaching Orphans.
To avoid being trapped, frequently move to the farthest part of the morgue. Destroying all life forms will create a temporal distortion. Interact with this anomaly, and you’ll be transported back to the former dimension. With this new location, you can now access the sealed corridor and unlock it using the key.
