Pete Davidson returned to Saturday Night Live to joke about the struggling ferry business he started with Colin Jost. He playfully referenced the word ‘barge’ as a nod to their situation. Davidson addressed a recent New York Timesarticle that called the venture a “money-losing fiasco” during the “Weekend Update” segment. He jokingly blamed his performance at a comedy festival in Saudi Arabia on the ferry draining all their funds, adding he couldn’t afford to read the full article because of a paywall. He also showed off a new mustache and offered a playful solution for those unhappy with a recent election result: colonize the ferry and start a “New Staten Island.” Davidson mentioned they did earn some money when Nike paid to advertise during the NYC Marathon. He then quipped that Lorne Michaels, the show’s creator, taught them to never give up, even if people think it’s time for Tina Fey to take over, jokingly questioning if anyone had actually asked Tina about this plan.
