MLB The Show 26 Announced With First Details

The Major League Baseball season just ended, and now the team at Sony San Diego Studios is starting work on the next version of their popular video game, MLB The Show. They’ve begun sharing some details about what players can expect in MLB The Show 26, which will be the 13th installment in the series.

Sony recently revealed details about MLB The Show 26 on the PlayStation blog. The new version will expand the Road To The Show mode with high school and college gameplay, and will also put more emphasis on what happens to players later in their careers. For the Diamond Dynasty mode, two new features – Diamond Quest and Weekend Classic – are being added, though Sony hasn’t yet explained exactly how they’ll work.

The game’s franchise mode has been updated to make offseason management more engaging and satisfying, though specifics weren’t shared. Players will also notice small improvements like new animations and an updated throwing system. The popular series focusing on the Negro Leagues will continue with a fourth season, highlighting the stories of talented players who didn’t receive the recognition they deserved.

You can get a head start on rewards for next year’s MLB The Show game by playing MLB The Show 25. By earning a special pack in the current game, you’ll receive more packs when the next version is released, as long as you use the same account.

Sign up for The Show’s Scouting Report before November 15th and you’ll get five packs of Now & Later candy. These Now & Later packs will also be available as rewards in MLB The Show 25 through the 11th Inning XP path starting November 21st. Plus, look forward to a special Now & Later program within the game in early 2026.

Sony hasn’t set a date for MLB The Show 26, but the yearly editions traditionally arrive in March.
