You know, everyone’s been asking me about Captain Jack Sparrow lately! I was at the premiere of my new movie, Modì, and someone finally asked if I’d ever consider returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. I gave a pretty short answer, and now everyone’s buzzing about whether I might come back. It’s funny to see all the speculation!
Johnny Depp discusses if he’d do another Pirates of the Caribbean movie
Johnny Depp has hinted he might return to play Captain Jack Sparrow in future Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
While at the premiere of his new movie, Modì, someone told Johnny Depp how much they enjoy his work and expressed hope for another Pirates of the Caribbean film. Depp replied with a simple, “That’d be fun.”
While Johnny Depp hasn’t officially said anything about a new movie, a recent comment has gotten fans excited about the possibility of another Pirates of the Caribbean film. Depp first played Captain Jack Sparrow in the 2003 hit, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, and went on to star in four more sequels. The last film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, came out in 2017, and since then, the future of the series has been unclear.
Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, recently shared that they’re still developing the script for the next movie. He indicated that Johnny Depp’s involvement will hinge on how good the story turns out to be.
The actor believes the role would appeal to him if he enjoys the script, emphasizing that a good story is the most important thing. However, Disney hasn’t confirmed anything yet, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Currently, Johnny Depp is working on other projects. Besides directing the film Modì, which stars Al Pacino, he’s also preparing to act in a fresh take on the classic story, A Christmas Carol.
