As a gaming enthusiast, I just stumbled upon some exciting news! D4 Enterprise has dropped a fresh version of the iconic 1989 PC-8801 game, Crimson II, on the Nintendo Switch through their EGG Console series. That’s right, it’s now available globally, even in the US, where it sets you back $6.49 on the Nintendo eShop. Can’t wait to dive into this classic revival!
The second game in the series, Crimson, was already released on Nintendo Switch back in January. That means the final installment of this trilogy remains exclusive to the D4’s Project EGG emulator for Windows PCs at present.
The official screenshots and explanations for the Crimson II port are located further down. Although they come with English descriptions and global launches, it’s important to note that the actual port can currently only be accessed in Japanese language settings.

Half a century has elapsed since Crimson met its match at the hands of the Hero. However, a fresh shadow is descending upon the realm once more…And five freshly anointed champions emerge, propelled by celestial insight.
A long time ago, three courageous heroes named Isabella and Arnold vanquished an evil entity known as “Crimson,” which once ruled over this world, restoring peace. Half a century has passed since that historic battle, but now darkness is looming once more over the world.
One day, an ominous meteor fell in Nopoli, and its elder believed it to be a harbinger of evil returning. He summoned a young man who possessed a mystical orb that had been passed down through generations. Recognizing his role as the Holy Hero (according to legend, five heroes with sacred gems would bring about peace), this young man embarked on a journey to locate the remaining four and together vanquish the encroaching darkness.
Simultaneously, each of the four destined heroes received their own divine prophecies, waiting for the arrival of the Holy Hero.
This 1989 Japanese video game, developed by XTAL SOFT, casts you as the “Holy Hero” in a thrilling quest. Alongside four allies – warrior Gobas, priest Rima, wizard Marlon, and female warrior Natasha – you strive to vanquish an evil force that keeps returning to life. In the initial stages, you’ll encounter prologues featuring these characters, after which they join your party for the main adventure.
The game adopts a top-down perspective, with battles occurring in an encounter-based format where you select commands. The story unfolds across more than ten chapters, and though it might contain subtle nods to earlier versions, it can still be fully appreciated by newcomers.
