WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes apparently had a great time playing Guile in the new Street Fighter movie, and he’s been sharing positive things about his experience filming it.
Rhodes recently shared his enthusiasm for the movie on the All the Smoke podcast. He spoke highly of everyone involved, from the actors to the production team, and expressed how grateful he was to have been a part of it.
Honestly, getting to work on this project was amazing! I loved the chance to experiment with storytelling in a new way. And the cast – Callina Lian, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, even having Andrew Schulz, the comedian, and 50 Cent as Balrog – it was just wild to see everyone together on set! Surprisingly, it was all super organized. We even rehearsed like we were really going to be in a fight, which was intense!
He explained that because everyone involved was stuck in Australia due to restrictions, they had the opportunity to thoroughly review all the lines together, which resulted in a very smooth and efficient process.
Rhodes shared that he believed he was just attending a standard meeting with Legendary Pictures, but they had actually already decided they wanted him for a specific part.
Rhodes said he went to a meeting expecting to discuss other things, but they surprised him by asking him to play Guile. He added that he was familiar with the character, having played him before.
WWE star Cody Rhodes’ role in the Street Fighter movie

In the new Street Fighter movie, actor Rhys Darby will portray the character Guile. Guile first debuted in the popular Street Fighter II video game in 1991. He’s an American Air Force pilot driven by a desire to get revenge for a fallen friend and colleague.
This movie is a major opportunity for Cody Rhodes, but he won’t be the only WWE Superstar appearing in it. Roman Reigns, a past opponent of Rhodes, also has a role – he’s playing the character Akuma.
This is Rhodes’s second significant part in a Hollywood movie. Before this, he appeared as a bartender in the new version of ‘The Naked Gun’ starring Liam Neeson.
Cody Rhodes is currently the WWE Champion. He recently retained his title after defeating Drew McIntyre at the November 2025 Saturday Night’s Main Event.
