Arma Reforger has been facing criticism recently. It was already having trouble after player interest dropped in October, similar to what happened with Battlefield 6. However, things got worse with the 1.6 update and the release of the single-player campaign. Players haven’t been impressed with the Conflict HQC.
Too many changes, way too much grain
The Arma Reforger 1.6 update, released on October 30th, quickly received a lot of negative feedback. Within a day, only 43% of new reviews were positive. Many players were unhappy with recent changes, particularly the replacement of the traditional Conflict mode with Headquarters Commander (HQC).

Success in HQC depends on following the commander’s instructions and cooperating with your team, which also includes managing supplies. However, this can be difficult on public servers. It’s often frustrating because players don’t always listen or understand the game mode.
The previous version of the game didn’t require players to work together as much, so it was simpler to team up with random people. Many players were surprised when it was removed, likely because they don’t regularly check for game updates or try out new features on test servers. This probably explains a lot of the negative reaction, but there’s another reason as well.
PC gamers are also upset about the new film grain filter. Previously, players could increase their graphics settings to improve visibility at night, but the developers at Bohemia didn’t like that solution. To address this, they intentionally added a grainy effect to make the game harder to see.

The reaction to the change on Reddit is mixed. Some players understand the decision, feeling that maximizing brightness and graphics settings was already a form of cheating. However, others think the new effect is too strong, as the graininess is still visible even at lower brightness levels. Many also suggest the developers should have made it an optional feature, allowing server administrators to choose whether or not to activate it.
Players are requesting changes to the class system, and the recent update has caused many mods to stop working while also decreasing performance on Xbox consoles.
