So, the guy who made Outdoor Boys, Luke Nichols, isn’t making videos right now, but don’t worry! His son is keeping the adventures going – he’s been posting regularly on his own YouTube channel, which is awesome. I’ve been checking it out and it’s still really good stuff!
Outdoor Tom showcases Nichols’ son building and creating things, and Luke often joins in. The videos are much like those on Outdoor Boys, featuring camping, fishing, and survival skills, all filmed with the same attention to detail and family-friendly approach.
In May, Nichols announced that his popular channel, Outdoor Boys, would be taking a break with no set return date. He explained that the channel’s growing popularity had become difficult for him and his family. He said the constant attention from fans – requests for photos, conversations, and general contact – had become overwhelming at times, leading to his decision.
Outdoor Tom’s channel is growing
He shared that all three of his sons are interested in becoming YouTubers, and he’s planning to support them in creating their own channels while gradually reducing his own content creation. A good example of this is his “Outdoor Tom” channel, which is still regularly updated even though his main “Outdoor Boys” channel isn’t currently active.
As of November 2025, the “Outdoor Tom” channel has gained significant popularity with almost 1.6 million subscribers and close to 60 million views, demonstrating that audiences continue to enjoy the family’s content and have expanded to include a new generation of viewers.
If you liked watching Tom Nichols’ outdoor adventures with his family, you’ll probably enjoy Outdoor Tom too. Luke Nichols often appears, but now lets his son be the main focus. Tom plans to release a few more ‘Outdoor Boys’ videos by the end of 2025 before retiring, but his fans can continue to find similar content on his son’s expanding channel.
