I just saw this new Xbox Game Pass ad, and it’s brilliant! It’s basically showing how frustrating it used to be waiting for someone to return a game at Blockbuster – you’d be stuck just waiting, like this poor guy they show in a return bin. It’s a really clever way to point out that with Game Pass, you don’t have to deal with that anymore – new games are added all the time, so you can just play!
The ad begins by referencing the past, then quickly shifts to a person enjoying a game at home through Xbox Game Pass. It highlights that new games are constantly being added to the service.
Microsoft usually releases new games for Game Pass in two batches each month. Right now, Game Pass Ultimate members have access to over 850 games.
So, Microsoft is constantly adding new games to Game Pass, which is awesome, but they also take games off the service twice a month. It’s kinda frustrating because they’re removing Stalker 2 in October, and a lot of us are annoyed. They really pushed it as an Xbox exclusive, so it feels like a letdown to see it go.
The game will likely be taken down this month because a licensing deal is ending. This coincides with its release on PlayStation 5 on November 20th, one year after it launched on Xbox Series X|S.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate just got more expensive. Microsoft increased the monthly price from $20 to $30. However, many stores like GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy are still selling subscriptions for the original $20 price.
