Many of us dream of freedom and adventure, and solo travel can offer just that. But actually leaving everything behind to live in an RV and head north is a huge step! If you’re craving that feeling, video games can offer a taste of the wilderness. Mindflair Games, inspired by games like The Long Dark and My Summer Car, is creating Long Drive North, a survival game set in a disaster-stricken landscape where players can experience a sense of freedom. If you’re excited about getting lost in the vast, snowy landscapes of North America, you might be disappointed to learn it’s currently only planned for PC. Will it eventually make its way to Xbox and PlayStation 5? Let’s take a look at the possibilities.
Xbox and PS5 release of Long Drive North
While traditional nomadic lifestyles are a thing of the past, many of us still dream of the freedom of constant travel and having no fixed home. The game Long Drive North taps into that feeling, challenging players to survive in a post-disaster wasteland. Currently, you’ll need a PC to play, as it’s not yet available on Xbox or PlayStation 5. Whether it will come to consoles remains to be seen.
It’s likely the game will eventually be released on other platforms, but it will launch on Steam first through an Early Access program. This will allow the developers to fix any bugs, add new features, and gather feedback from players to shape the game’s development.

The current plan doesn’t mention bringing the game to consoles, but you can share your interest with the developers on their official Discord server. If Long Drive North does well and players request Xbox and PS5 versions, Mindflair Games will likely consider it. Let’s hope the game is a success so it can come to consoles as well! Best of luck to the developers!
