Initially planned for broadcast in 2024, the third season of the popular TV show was postponed to summer 2025 due to Hollywood strikes. However, a bonus episode has been added as a result.

When it comes to my role as a storyteller, I need to genuinely appreciate what I’m creating, take pride in it, and be enthusiastic about it,” she explained. “I simply pen down what I believe is the finest tale, and that’s what I wholeheartedly endorse.

What to expect in the finale

In the 10th episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, time advances and we find Belly happily adjusted in her life in France with her new partner, Benito. However, during a trip to Brussels for a conference, Conrad chooses to detour to Paris – he intends to meet up with Belly.

The events following are central to the climax. Readers familiar with the book will recognize Conrad as Belly’s final destination, yet, as hinted, there are still unexpected twists ahead.

In actuality, there have been numerous alterations so far. The concluding volume, titled “We’ll Always Have Summer”, wraps up with Jeremiah cancelling the wedding, followed by an epilogue that jumps ahead a couple of years. During this time, Belly is found immersed in her studies in Spain and subsequently receives letters from Conrad.

In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly regarding the television adaptation, Han shared his excitement about revealing unexpected aspects of Belly’s journey in Paris, especially the climax. He emphasized that it’s more than just a conclusion; it’s a significant part of the story.

For a long time, I had envisioned wrapping up the story in Paris, given that the final book shares its name with Casablanca. It just seemed fitting.

From the start of the series, I’ve hidden references to Paris, such as when Belly was reading ‘The Hunger Games’ in French. This was intentional, regardless of whether we filmed there or not, and I’ve been including these Easter eggs throughout.

Regarding the conclusion, Han had earlier shared with Elite Daily that he had already decided how he wanted to wrap up the books. However, when it came to the TV show, he entered with a flexible mindset. He aimed to approach it with fresh perspective and simply witness the magical outcomes on-screen.

Is it a red herring or are Belly and Conrad destined to be a couple? Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to discover the answer.

Will Season 3 be the last?

As an ardent admirer, let me share some exciting news (and a bit of disappointment): The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 aligns with the third and last installment in the series. At present, we’ve yet to hear any whispers about Season 4.

As I pen this, it appears that the flagship series is nearing its conclusion. Yet, Han hinted that she might not rule out continuing the story in the future. This could mean a follow-up series or revisiting Belly and the gang after several years have passed.

She shared with Entertainment Weekly that she’s always open to new opportunities as a storyteller. Inspiration strikes frequently, and if a good tale comes along, she’s ready to tell it.
