As a passionate supporter, I find myself deeply disappointed by the actions of a senior developer at Sucker Punch Productions. The recent tweet mocking conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s unfortunate incident has sparked significant outrage among the gaming community. Following the tragic shooting that occurred on September 10, 2025, during Kirk’s speech at Utah Valley University, many devoted gamers are now choosing to boycott Sucker Punch’s upcoming game, Ghost of Yotei, and are requesting refunds for their pre-orders. This incident has undeniably tarnished the reputation of a studio once held in high regard by many like myself.

Following the announcement of Kirk’s passing, the developer from Sucker Punch expressed on Bluesky: “I hope the shooter’s name is Mario, so Luigi knows his brother stood by him.” This post has since been widely shared on various social media platforms after it was screenshotted.

As a dedicated gamer, I couldn’t help but notice that fellow game developers from renowned studios such as Bungie and The Coalition gave a thumbs-up to a controversial post. Now, the gaming community is rallying, demanding accountability or perhaps even job consequences for those involved.

Since the initial tweet was left unremoved, a Sucker Punch developer has continued to fuel the escalating debate by sharing additional three posts on the platform.
