Predator Badlands Confirms 2 Unexpected Alien Connections

Susie Glass, the lead hair and makeup artist for the upcoming film Predator Badlands, has revealed a surprising link to the Alien franchise. The new Predator movie will tell a completely original story centered around an unlikely partnership between a synthetic human created by the Weyland-Yutani corporation (played by Elle Fanning) and a young Predator named Dek who has been exiled from his people. Once it’s revealed that Dek is tracking a dangerous creature on the planet Genna, many fans speculated the creature was a Xenomorph. This belief was fueled by the trailer, which showed Colonial Marines and the P-5000 Powered Work Loader – a vehicle originally featured in the 1986 film Aliens – hinting at a crossover between the two iconic franchises.

Despite initial speculation, the producer of Predator: Badlands, Ben Glass, has stated that a Xenomorph won’t appear in the movie. However, the film still shares a connection with the Alien franchise beyond the previously established link to Ridley Scott’s 1986 sequel.

During a visit to the set of ‘Predator: Badlands,’ lead hair and makeup artist Susie Glass revealed that the design of a key Synth character named Abe was inspired by Michael Fassbender’s characters, David and Walter, from the ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Alien: Covenant’ films.

This surprising link to the Alien prequel films is important because the character David plays a major role in the overall story of Ridley Scott’s Alien universe.

Michael Fassbender plays David, an artificial human created by the Weyland-Yutani corporation. In the movie Prometheus, David was sent to help the scientists and explorers on their mission, but he ultimately prioritized the company’s goal of achieving immortality over the safety of his crewmates. He committed several harmful acts, including the death of the main character, Elizabeth Shaw, conducting experiments on alien life, and killing the Engineers in Alien: Covenant.

Glass has suggested the new hero character will be inspired by David, which might mean they’ll be a force for good. However, this could be a deliberate misdirection, and the character might ultimately turn out to be a villain – potentially following a similar path to Michael Fassbender’s character in the prequel films.

According to Glass, the main character’s synthetic body might have blonde hair, like David, to help it look different from the other androids in the film.

A surprising addition to Predator: Badlands is the confirmation of MU/TH/UR’s appearance, though this version of the AI will be a different model than the one seen in the Alien films.

Okay, so 20th Century Studios dropped a new clip, and it looks like Elle Fanning’s character – she’s some kind of synthetic human – is getting fixed up by MU/TH/UR after a run-in with that creature Weyland-Yutani is after. But here’s the cool part for us Alien fans: this MU/TH/UR isn’t the same one Ripley dealt with in the original 1979 movie! Its model number is 065278, which means it’s a different unit. Pretty neat detail, right?

The latest version of MU/TH/UR now includes voice capabilities, a significant improvement to the software. This addition fits well with the setting of Predator: Badlands, which takes place far in the future (you can find more details on the Predator timeline here).

In the Alien movies, MU/TH/UR 6000 was the central computer system on the Weyland-Yutani ships, responsible for locating the Xenomorph on the planet LV-426.

Fans can watch the clip here:

Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands features Elle Fanning as a synthetic human stranded on a perilous planet, and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamantangi as the Predator. It’s scheduled for release in theaters on November 7, 2025.

Will There Be Anymore Alien Connections in Predator: Badlands?

Currently, Predator: Badlands includes many references to the Alien franchise. These include elements like the Colonial Marines, the P-5000 Powered Work Loader from the 1986 film Aliens, synthetic beings, and the Weyland-Yutani corporation’s branding. The inclusion of a design inspired by Michael Fassbender’s David android is a particularly fitting addition.

Even though the creators of Predator: Badlands have stated clearly that the movie won’t feature Xenomorphs, there’s still plenty to look forward to, and it’s possible they’re keeping secrets and aren’t being entirely truthful.

The main story of Predator: Badlands centers around Dek’s quest to defeat an incredibly powerful creature and return home with it as proof of his abilities. While trailers have shown the beast as a massive, dominant predator on the planet, many fans believe an even more dangerous creature – the Xenomorph – is secretly the true apex predator lurking in the forest.

This theory is plausible, largely due to the significant role Weyland-Yutani (the company) plays in the film’s plot. The company clearly wants to capture and weaponize the Xenomorph, believing it holds the key to immortality. This likely explains why a full team of Colonial Marines was sent to the planet – the company is determined to retrieve the Xenomorph at any cost.

It’s just a theory right now, but it wouldn’t be shocking to discover a Xenomorph, or something similar, is secretly part of the larger story in Predator: Badlands.
