
Rumors suggested that the upcoming remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team, would initially only be available on PlayStation 5 for a year after its release last October. That year has now passed, and a recent update to the game’s rating information suggests it will soon be released on Xbox Series X|S.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has updated the listing for Silent Hill 2 to confirm it’s coming to Xbox Series consoles. The game’s Mature rating remains unchanged, but neither Microsoft nor Konami have officially announced a release date or even confirmed the port yet. It’s currently unknown whether a physical copy of Silent Hill 2 will be available for Xbox, or if it will be a digital-only release.
Currently, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) hasn’t listed Silent Hill 2 for the upcoming Switch 2 console. However, a release on the Switch 2 in the future isn’t impossible.
After the positive reception to Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2, Konami revealed that the studio is now developing a remake of the very first Silent Hill game. A release date for this new project hasn’t been announced yet.
Silent Hill f, the newest installment in the popular video game series, came out last month and has been well-received by critics. Konami revealed this game, along with a remake of Silent Hill 2 and a new title called Silent Hill: Townfall, during a livestream event in 2022. According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, they announced all three projects simultaneously to demonstrate their commitment to bringing the series back.
A new Silent Hill movie, Return to Silent Hill, is coming out on January 23, 2026. It’s based on the popular game Silent Hill 2, and the original movie’s director, Christoph Gans, is back to direct it.
