Though Neve Campbell didn’t appear in Scream VI, she’s returning for the new installment, Scream 7. The first trailer is out now, and it shows Sidney Prescott in action while also cleverly referencing the original 1996 movie. Here’s a closer look at everything.
Details about Scream 7 are scarce, making this first look at the film especially exciting. The story brings back the beloved Sidney Prescott, who now has to shield her family—including her daughter, Tatum (played by Isabel May), named as a nod to the original movie—from a new Ghostface killer.

As a horror fan, I was thrilled to see the entire Scream franchise available on Paramount+. They’ve got two main subscription options: an Essential plan at $7.99 a month, and a Premium, ad-free plan for $12.99. Honestly, if you’re planning on a long-term binge, their annual plan is the way to go – it’s a significant savings and lets you enjoy all your favorite scary movies without breaking the bank. I’d definitely recommend checking it out!
The trailer begins at Stu Macher’s house – a memorable location from the original Scream movie and the 2022 sequel, both available on Paramount+. Now operating as a creepy Airbnb, the house is the scene of a new murder by Ghostface. This brings Sidney Prescott into the story, revealing that she and her family are the new killer’s targets.

Sidney Prescott and her family are being stalked in their current town, and the danger seems to focus on her and her daughter, Tatum, though her husband Mark is also at risk. The trailer shows Sidney trying to prepare Tatum for a potential encounter with Ghostface, teaching her how to survive. Whether or not she’ll succeed remains to be seen.
I was so excited to see some familiar faces in the new trailer! Of course, Courteney Cox is back as Gale Weathers – she’s been in every Scream movie, which is amazing. It’s also great to see Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin stepping up, especially after the news about Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Honestly, I’m already worried about them all – they only showed them for a split second, so I really hope they make it through the movie!

However, the marketing team for Scream 7 might be smart to save footage of certain characters for closer to the release date. Several other returning (though deceased) characters have also been confirmed, including Dewey (David Arquette), Roman (Scott Foley), and Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), but weren’t featured in the initial trailer. While this first look is exciting, it’s likely to fuel even more fan theories and speculation.
The new trailer reveals Ghostface threatening to destroy everything, and it looks like he’s starting with Stu Macher’s house. The movie’s official poster shows the house engulfed in flames, reflected in Ghostface’s knife – you can see it if you look closely!

Honestly, I’m bursting with questions after seeing the first trailer! And the timing? Perfect! Dropping it on Halloween feels like director Kevin Williamson and the whole team really get us fans and are planning something special with this next chapter of the series. I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store!
The details will be unveiled when Scream 7 arrives in theaters on February 27th, as part of the 2026 film lineup. In the meantime, fans can revisit the first six Scream movies on Paramount+ while speculation about the next installment spreads online.
