The first season for Battlefield 6 is now available, bringing with it a battle pass, new weapons, and the Blackwell Fields map. However, some players are unhappy with Blackwell Fields, finding its wide-open spaces to be a disadvantage.
Blackwell Fields is a large map set on a California oil field, featuring wide-open spaces that favor snipers and long-distance fights. While it has some buildings, oil rigs, and equipment for cover, it doesn’t offer quite enough variety for all players. It can be challenging to play up close, and capturing objectives often feels difficult due to the exposed nature of the map.
Hey, so I’ve been seeing reports – a Reddit user, Square-Border-7525, pointed it out – that people are getting instantly killed right at their base because of the map’s anti-air guns. It’s a pretty frustrating spawn kill issue, apparently.
Blackwell Fields has a lot of smoke and fire, which makes it hard to see clearly during long-distance fights. Unless you’re specifically watching for the glint of sniper scopes on the hillsides, it can be tough to spot enemies.
Players are frustrated with how difficult it is to see on the new map and are posting screenshots to prove it. One Twitter user, BSoD, shared an image asking if you could spot four players hiding on a hill, then pointed out, “You can’t!”
Blackwell Fields is now considered the worst map in the game. It’s hard to even spot players – look at those four crouched on that hill, they’re almost invisible! While the map looks fantastic, it’s really frustrating to play. The developers prioritized good graphics over gameplay, which has made the already poor visibility even worse.

Blackwell Fields isn’t universally disliked. Many players seem to enjoy using sniper rifles there, even with the limited visibility. The map also provides ample space for tanks and other vehicles to excel.
The developer hasn’t responded to the negative feedback about the map yet, but it could still be improved with updates that add more hiding spots and make it easier to see.
