Fans have brought the classic game Bully back to life with a new online mode, even though the original developers haven’t created it themselves.
It’s been twenty years since the game ‘Canis Canem Edit,’ known as Bully, was first released. Unlike the Grand Theft Auto games its creators are famous for, Bully took place in a boarding school. As the student Jimmy Hopkins, players had to navigate school life, stop bullying, break up social groups, and still keep their grades up.
Despite being a single installment, fans have consistently asked for a follow-up. Just last month, Dan Houser, a co-founder of Rockstar, explained why he didn’t create a proper sequel during his time with the company.
With the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 on the horizon, and following a string of incredibly successful games, Rockstar fans are now focusing on bringing their beloved classic, Bully, back to life. Dedicated community members have created a new online mode, allowing players to experience Bully in a whole new way.

Bully Online mod brings a new experience to Rockstar’s classic game
So, a bunch of us fans – led by SWEGTA, who’s a huge Bully enthusiast and a YouTuber – are making a mod for the game! We announced it on October 27th, 2025, and we’re planning to get it into the hands of our supporters first this December. Then, if everything goes well, everyone will be able to play it sometime in 2026.
Fans of Bully will find all the classic gameplay they love, like boxing and go-kart racing. But this mod also adds a brand new role-playing element that feels different from anything we’ve played before.
This mod is similar to GTA RP, allowing you to create a life for yourself in a New England setting. You can find work, make money, and eventually buy property within the game world. It also features a detailed inventory system, letting you carry items and be ready for challenges from both students and criminals.
A dedicated group of fans has been quietly working on this project for a long time, and it’s finally coming together, according to SWEGTA.
The YouTuber pointed out that many things once considered impossible are now achievable.
As excitement builds for GTA 6, it seems Rockstar isn’t planning to revisit the Bully game in the near future. This new online mod allows fans to connect with the game in a much more immersive way than they’ve been able to in the 19 years since it first came out.
