The first look at Zatanna’s costume in Absolute Wonder Woman has been revealed.
DC Comics launched Absolute Wonder Woman in October 2024. Written by Kelly Thompson with art by Hayden Sherman, the series presents a unique take on Wonder Woman’s origin story. Instead of being raised on the island of Themyscira as a warrior, this version of Diana Prince was raised in Hell by the witch Circe, giving her a more magical and mystical background.
The latest issue of Absolute Wonder Woman revealed that Zatanna, the magical heroine, is being held prisoner by a government agency called Area 41, which is headed by Veronica Cale. It’s currently unknown why she’s being held, but she’s restrained and silenced, likely to prevent her from using her powers.
The scene concludes with Cale telling Zatanna, “It seems you’re finally leaving the house, because I’m sending you on a mission to eliminate a witch.”
What does Zatanna’s costume look like in Absolute Wonder Woman?
A new cover for Absolute Wonder Woman #16, coming out next year, gives us our first glimpse of Zatanna’s costume. You can see the cover art below.
A new story arc, “Season of the Witch,” kicks off now! Diana, having faced challenges in the Area 41 maze, is determined to prioritize her original mission. However, a dangerous new enemy appears in Gateway City – and it’s another witch! Zatanna arrives, and Diana’s life is about to change forever.
Since Zatanna is being held captive at Area 41, it’s unknown if she’ll turn into a true villain, or if she might actually team up with Wonder Woman. We’ll find out when Absolute Wonder Woman #16 is released on January 28, 2026.
