Before Battlefield 6 came out, everyone wondered if it would focus on realism, or if it would become more like the colorful, less realistic styles of games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. People were worried about the direction the series might take.
The big question, of course, was whether the game would actually be good. And the answer is yes! Our review called Battlefield 6 “the first Battlefield in years that can truly compete with Call of Duty in the multiplayer space.”
I really mean it when I say the game’s appearance options are a concern. Some hardcore fans of first-person shooters are bothered by the celebrity and character crossovers in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty. Personally, I think having characters like Jay and Silent Bob fighting in a video game is ridiculous. And as someone who’s played Magic: The Gathering for years, I’m really disappointed with how the ‘Universes Beyond’ crossovers are changing the game I enjoy.
So, about Battlefield 6 – we’re getting skins, and the good news is they’re sticking to their promise of keeping things realistic. The design director, Shashank, actually talked about this recently, and here’s what he had to say…
I don’t think it needs Nicki Minaj. Let’s keep it real, keep it grounded.
Case settled, right? Well, maybe not; Battlefield fans aren’t happy about one of the newest skins.
Battlefield 6 Fans Express Their Displeasure With The Game’s Newest Skin

Don’t take my word for it, let’s go straight to the source and hear it from the fans!
As a long-time Battlefield fan, I have to say the new skins are really different from what we saw in Battlefield 1. It’s got a lot of us worried that the next game, Battlefield 6, might not live up to our expectations. It just feels like a big departure, and we’re hoping it doesn’t mean a decline in quality.
One player said the game feels incomplete right now, hoping future updates over the next year or two will fix that. They believe how the developers expand the game will ultimately define its reputation. As it stands now, the game is enjoyable, though personally it feels a little too fast-paced and chaotic, which they attribute to the map design and game modes.
The team then reflected on how impressive the original Battlefield 1 was. They described it as a truly cinematic and artistic experience, praising everything from the detailed maps and character designs to the immersive environments and sound effects. They felt it was a more polished and well-crafted game overall. They connected this high quality to the fact that recent layoffs and budget cuts often lead to compromises, and you can see the effects of cost-cutting everywhere these days.
The most important thing to consider is what’s happening with Electronic Arts. The gaming industry has been struggling with layoffs and budget cuts, and recently, EA was bought by a private investment firm for a huge sum. While I don’t know much about these kinds of deals, it’s reasonable to assume that anyone investing $55 billion will expect to make a profit eventually.
It’s possible people are overreacting to this. Not everyone believes it’s a disaster, and frankly, they’re right to feel that way. As one Reddit user put it, just acknowledge it’s silly and then forget about it.
It might be really noticeable at first, but I don’t think this means Battlefield 6 will end up copying Fortnite. In fact, the game’s live-action trailer even poked fun at that idea, so hopefully, that won’t happen.
