Battlefield 6: Best Recon Class Loadouts

Jump Links

  • Role Expectations

Recon players are known for getting headshots and sniping enemies, and that remains a key part of the class. However, Recon is capable of much more than just long-range accuracy.

You’re not limited to specific guns by character class, so feel free to combine them however you like. This lets you prepare for different combat scenarios, and with three available loadouts, you can quickly switch to a different setup after you’re defeated.

In this guide, I’ll share four different character builds to help you explore various playstyles. I’ll explain how to use each one and the strategy behind it.

Role Expectations

As you might expect, Recon’s main role is gathering information. You keep an eye on important locations and wide areas, making enemies think twice before attacking.

As a player, I’ve found that with my setup, I’m really good at spotting enemies. I can mark them on the map so my teammates know where they are, which is a huge advantage, especially when we’re pushing forward on offense. It really helps the team coordinate!

Essentially, your role is to either weaken enemies so your team can finish them off quickly, or protect your teammates from damage. You don’t need to be flawless – even landing a few hits can make a big difference in a team fight.

If you’re focused and patient, you can control key areas by stopping the enemy’s plans. But even if you’re not, you can still be valuable by pointing out enemy groups and helping your team strategize.

Best Recon Class Loadouts in Battlefield 6

These weapon setups are designed for different situations, so the best choice depends on how you’re playing. Because the Recon class excels at fighting from a distance, all of these setups prioritize long-range weapons like sniper rifles and DMRs.

You’re welcome to use any weapon you like! Just remember that the Recon class receives special benefits for using sniper rifles, and unlocking new weapons depends on getting headshots from a distance and scoring kills with DMRs. But don’t let that discourage you – play with whatever weapons you find fun!

These suggested setups are a great starting point, but don’t feel limited by them. Everyone has their own playstyle, so customize things to fit what works best for you.

Similar to other classes, the Recon class offers a special training option that alters your in-battle advantages. While I’m only demonstrating it with one setup, it can be useful with any combination of gear.

Going for Distance

Primary Sniper
Gadget 1 Sniper Decoy
Gadget 2 Claymore
Throwable Proximity Detector
Melee Sledgehammer

This is the classic sniper setup: find a good location, stay put, and control a large area. You’ll likely be holding that position for a while, which can lead to a high kill-to-death ratio if that’s important to you.

With this setup, your main focus is eliminating enemies, not completing objectives. While keeping the objective in view can help, you’ll probably end up spending more time trying to take out other snipers than actually playing the game mode.

You’re vulnerable in close combat, except for the sledgehammer. However, being able to take down enemies from over 80 meters away more than compensates for that weakness. Also, the sledgehammer is great for creating new sightlines by breaking walls or other obstacles.

The Straight and Narrow

Primary DMR
Gadget 1 C4
Gadget 2 Claymore
Throwable Proximity Detector
Melee Sledgehammer

Not all maps are suited for a passive, long-range playstyle. Specifically, maps with tight corridors, such as Siege of Cairo, don’t offer many good spots to safely set up and defend from a distance.

To succeed with this strategy, your DMR user needs to be able to handle themselves in close-quarters fighting, even though the goal is still to stay at a distance. Many objectives have good vantage points where you can get a clear view of everything, and taking advantage of those spots will be really helpful.

The Proximity Detector helps you pinpoint enemy locations, whether they’re near an objective or hidden around corners, letting you confidently guard a position without fear of being ambushed. Plus, you can secure an objective by using Claymores to block off likely enemy approaches.

Claymores stay in the game until they’re triggered, so with a teammate’s help, you can effectively guard a location with them.

Hide and Go Seek

Primary DMR
Gadget 1 C4
Gadget 2 Recon Drone
Throwable Frag Grenade
Melee Knife

This setup is designed for fast movement and stealthily entering enemy areas, leveraging the benefits of the Spec Ops training. I recommend using a DMR because you’ll be highly mobile and might encounter unexpected threats.

Keep moving! Crouching helps you quickly recover from combat and makes less noise. This lets you sneak around and approach enemies from unexpected angles, as they won’t know where you are for long.

This setup focuses on stealth, letting you quietly sneak past enemies and take them down undetected. You can also use C4 explosives to destroy troublesome vehicles, but only if you can approach them without being noticed.

I recommend using this specific setup for Spec Ops, though it should perform well with other setups too.

The Spotter

Primary Sniper
Gadget 1 Recon Drone
Gadget 2 Laser Designator
Throwable Proximity Detector
Melee Sledgehammer

If you enjoy playing as a sniper but struggle to get consistent kills, this setup will help you support your team and earn points without needing to focus heavily on eliminating opponents. You can still use a sniper rifle, primarily to maintain a good position at a distance.

Your main job will be to use the Laser Designator and Recon Drone to mark enemies and vehicles on the map, helping your teammates. You might not get a ton of kills yourself, but you’ll quickly earn points and assists, which could be exactly what your team needs to win.

The best way to play Battlefield is however you have the most fun. Whether you prefer rushing into battle as an Assault player or taking to the skies in a vehicle, there are tons of different ways to experience and enjoy the game.
