Payday 2 Is Getting New Updates From Partner Studio

Even though Payday 3 came out ten years after Payday 2, the original game is still more popular. To keep Payday 2 players happy, publisher Starbreeze has hired Sidetrack Games to continue updating and improving it on PC.

As a big Payday 2 fan, I’m really excited to hear more about Sidetrack! They used to be known as the M.U.G. Team, and they’re a group with experience – they even kept RAID: World War 2 going after its official support ended. Starbreeze says their first update for Payday 2 is coming on October 23rd, and it’s all about making the game more stable and just generally a better experience for players. They’ve also promised more updates down the line to add little improvements and fix any bugs, which is awesome!

On October 23th, Starbreeze will livestream a detailed explanation of an upcoming patch and ask players for feedback on future updates. Since the game Payday 2 is now managed by Sidetrack, Starbreeze will focus most of its efforts on updating Payday 3. While Payday 2 still boasts tens of thousands of active players according to SteamDB, Payday 3 is currently struggling to reach even 1,000 concurrent players.

Earlier this month, Starbreeze decided to stop development on their Dungeons & Dragons game and reduced their workforce to focus more on the Payday series and similar heist-themed games. They also launched a monthly subscription for Payday 2 that gives players access to all downloadable content. Starbreeze apologized for briefly increasing the price of the Payday 2 DLC bundle to $170, and then lowered it back to $118.
