Ironmouse ‘heartbroken’ after TwitchCon staff allegedly threw out gifts from VTuber fans

VTubers were deeply upset to discover that gifts sent by fans for TwitchCon were thrown away by Twitch staff.

TwitchCon, Twitch’s yearly event where streamers and their fans meet in person (this year in San Diego), has been marked by several unsettling incidents and drama, even though Twitch had increased security and brought in armed police due to previous safety worries.

During a recent meet-and-greet event, Emiru was attacked when a man grabbed her face and attempted to kiss her. While Twitch stated the attacker was quickly apprehended, Emiru says that didn’t happen.

Popular VTubers, like Ironmouse, who rarely appear at in-person events, finally had a chance to meet their fans. While fans showed their gratitude with gifts, many Twitch staff members ended up throwing those gifts away.

Ironmouse apologizes for binned TwitchCon gifts

The VTuber meet-and-greets, sponsored by Ironmouse, left the popular streamer devastated after gifts for fans were damaged.

She expressed deep regret to all VTubers and their fans who attended meet-and-greets at the booth this year. She was heartbroken to learn that staff had discarded the gifts and acknowledged she should have personally ensured their safekeeping. She sincerely apologized to everyone affected, sharing the message on X (formerly Twitter).

I’m truly sorry to all the vtubers and fans who visited the booth this year. I was very upset to learn that staff discarded the gifts that were given, and I take full responsibility for not ensuring they were handled properly. I should have made better arrangements beforehand, and I sincerely apologize for this mistake.

VTubers claim TwitchCon is “cooked” moving forward

Other VTubers, like Henya, also shared their thoughts. Henya believed the issue stemmed from a misunderstanding between Twitch employees and the content creators.

I’m so sorry, but gifts given to my meet and greet team were accidentally thrown away by venue staff due to a mix-up. I apologize to anyone who thoughtfully brought a gift.

“I genuinely mean this, I think Twitchcon is actually cooked for future years,” Elara added.

Twitch has some major, underlying problems that need to be fixed. What happened this weekend was simply not okay.

I really believe Twitchcon is in serious trouble and might not be sustainable in the future. Twitch has deep-rooted problems it needs to fix, and the events of this past weekend were simply not okay. This latest development just confirms my concerns.

Some fans followed the rules for bringing gifts, using clear plastic bags as instructed. However, security guards told them the gifts were considered a potential security threat, suggesting they could have concealed explosives.

There’s been a lot of confusion among the TC staff regarding communication with both people attending and streamers. For example, a friend of mine was initially told she could join the line after another event, but then she was completely removed from the attendee list.

Even small gifts, like sticker sets, often end up being thrown away.
