Like most Pokémon games, there’s still plenty to do in Pokémon Legends: Z-A after you finish the main story. Once you’ve dealt with the problem of Rogue Mega Evolution, the game doesn’t just end – there’s more to explore and accomplish. We’ve compiled a list detailing all the postgame content. Please be aware that the following information contains spoilers about the story and characters.
What unlock in the postgame?
After you finish the main story in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the postgame content focuses on two main things. First, you can participate in the Infinite Z-A Royale, which unlocks additional missions after completing your first or fifteenth Reward Match. Second, you’ll find new Pokemon appearing randomly in a new area called Wild Zone 20, which replaces the location of the old Prism Tower.
The Infinite Z-A Royale
Even after you finish the main story, you can still participate in Z-A Royale every night. Instead of competing for Promotion Matches, you’ll use Challenger Tickets to battle Reward Matches against NPCs you’ve met in the story. Winning these battles will earn you rare items like Poke Balls and Exp Candy.
The Z-A Royale isn’t the main reward, as the story still has a few loose ends that you need to finish to fully complete it.
- Completing your first Infinite Z-A Royale Reward Match will have the player receive a notice to return to Hotel Z, where L will give you two missions related to capturing Xerneas and Yveltal
- Competing your 15th Z-A Royale Reward Match (always againt your rival) will give you a cutscene tying a bow on their story arc, and gifting the player Eternal Flower Floette and its Mega Stone
- Completing both of L’s Missions by capturing both Xerneas and Yveltal (Main Mission 40 The One That Gives and Main Mission 41 The One That Takes) will have him challenge you to a final Trainer battle, and Zygarde challenging you to a Rogue Mega Evolution-style encounter before allowing itself to be caught
Based on our observations, the opponents you face in your Infinite Z-A Royale Reward Matches aren’t completely random until you reach your 16th match. We haven’t seen any repeated battles, which makes sense since your rival is always scheduled for your 15th match. Also, as part of Xerneas’s storyline, Mable will give you a research task that requires Xerneas to complete. You won’t be able to finish her tasks without it. While it *might* be possible to get the Shiny Charm without completing that specific request, it’s probably not a reliable strategy for most players.
Wild Zone 20
In addition to the Infinite Z-A Royale, the Wild Zone 20 area around Prism Tower is a great place to find rare Pokémon. You can regularly find all three starter Pokémon here, and the guaranteed Alpha Pokémon in the center sometimes includes those normally only available through trades. Because Pokémon appearances are random, you might be able to complete your Pokédex with less trading than usual! Of course, other fully evolved Pokémon – including Eeveelutions and others that need evolution items – also appear in this area.
Even though the main story is finished, there’s still a good bit to do in the game! You can complete remaining side quests, finish Mabel’s requests, and explore everything Lumiose City has to offer. So take your time and enjoy the rest of your time in the city!
