Resident Evil 2 Director Wants Hideo Kojima To Make New P.T.-Like Game

More than a decade after the initial release of P.T., the canceled demo for Silent Hills serves as an illustration of a potentially outstanding horror game that never came to fruition due to Konami’s decision to delist it. Notably, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya is among P.T.’s avid supporters, expressing his desire for Hideo Kojima to develop another game of similar caliber. If Kojima chooses not to revisit the horror elements of P.T., it’s possible that Kamiya may take on the project instead.

In a post on X (translated by IGN), Kamiya expressed that if P.T. cannot be revived, Kojima should create a new game with a similar style. If Kojima doesn’t take up the challenge, Kamiya might consider doing it himself, despite his dislike for horror, as the game wouldn’t be horror-based. Furthermore, he mentioned that he currently has no ideas.

Kamiya has expressed before his appreciation for the game P.T., yet admitted that he finds it too frightening to play on his own. He also mentioned that The Exit 8, a Japanese horror title, seems to fulfill the craving for more P.T., but he considered it a lighter version of the original.

Even though P.T., the game, is no longer easily playable, someone managed to trace the actions of Lisa, the ominous spirit within the demo. The influence of P.T. continues to persist since its launch, and it has even been recreated by enthusiasts in Halo Infinite.

In an early trailer, it seemed that one of Hideo Kojima’s upcoming games, titled OD, may be paying tribute to Silent Hill. Although it’s believed to be a horror game exclusively for Xbox Series X|S, specific details about the game’s plot have not been officially revealed by Kojima yet.
