Following a number of years spent raiding Lost Sectors to defeat bosses with pumpkin heads, Destiny 2 enthusiasts can look forward to engaging in fresh and eerie events during this year’s Festival of the Lost celebration.
During a recent livestream discussing the Renegades expansion, Bungie announced updates to Destiny’s annual Halloween event. In addition to the usual release of themed cosmetic gear and unique weapons, developers unveiled a new six-person cooperative Player vs Environment (PvE) activity and a three-person Player vs Player (PvP) activity.
As a thrilled enthusiast, I’m excited about the new game activities: Haunted Altars and Red Rumble! Destiny design lead Clayton Kisko reveals that in Haunted Altars, the ominous Headless Ones – colossal Halloween-inspired boss monsters with pumpkins replacing their heads – will finally break free from the Lost Sectors, where they’ve been confined during previous festivals. Moving on to Red Rumble, Bungie is keeping the details under wraps, but it promises to spice up the usual formula of raiding Lost Sectors, which has been a staple since before Beyond Light expansion was released.
In this year’s event, there is a feature called “hocus-focusing” making its comeback. With this feature, players can choose their rewards during the event. To do so, you’ll need Eerie Engrams that drop from festival activities, and Candy, which serves as the currency throughout the Festival of the Lost period. Using hocus-focusing, you can select specific weapons from the festival loot pool or obtain Exotic gear, but only if you have enough Candy to cover the cost.
Additionally, Bungie revealed some fresh insights about Destiny 2’s Halloween event, as well as unveiling this year’s Festival of the Lost cosmetic armor embellishments, which draw inspiration from popular cult movie killers. Back in January, players were given the option to choose between armor sets inspired by Slashers and Specters for voting, however, it appears that Bungie has blended aspects from both groups into the final armor design.
Hunters may opt for an armor design reminiscent of a ghostly bride’s appearance, incorporating elements of the Ghost Face character from the Scream movies; Titans will have a look modeled after the hockey mask-wearing murderer Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th films; and Warlocks can choose to don an attire similar to the internet sensation known as Slenderman, a tall, slender, faceless child-stalking figure.
Typically, you can obtain these decorative armors exclusively from the Eververse Store using the game’s premium currency, Silver. Keep in mind that they cannot be earned through regular gameplay.
During the live broadcast, Bungie discussed numerous aspects concerning the Renegades, along with modifications they’re implementing in Destiny 2 regarding loot acquisition and the leveling up process, which are primarily influenced by player suggestions.
