Ever since we learned that “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” is one of the upcoming book adaptations, our curiosity has been piqued about who might play a young Haymitch Abernathy, following Woody Harrelson’s portrayal in the original trilogy. And now, the wait is over! Although the actor hasn’t yet made a name for himself, I can definitely see the similarities to Harrelson.
According to Deadline, Joseph Zada will portray the role of Haymitch alongside Whitney Peak from “Hocus Pocus 2,” who is set to play Haymitch’s love interest, Lenore Dove Baird. Here’s the news update:

As a passionate fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about the ongoing discussions surrounding who might play Haymitch in the upcoming movie adaptation of “The Hunger Games.” What I appreciate most about this series is its knack for discovering fresh talents and setting new careers in motion. It would undeniably enrich our experience to delve deeper into the origins of the Hunger Games with an actor we’re not overly familiar with, especially one who bears a striking resemblance to a young Woody Harrelson.
If you haven’t recognized him yet, that’s understandable as this actor is relatively new to Hollywood. He has already filmed two other movie adaptations, but they have yet to hit the screens. Coming up, he will appear in “We Were Liars” on Amazon Prime, scheduled for release on June 18. Additionally, you can catch him in Netflix’s “East of Eden” TV series alongside Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, and Mike Faist.
In addition, she played the role of Haymitch’s love interest and was part of the Covey, similar to Rachel Zegler’s character in “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” named Peak, who also had a dedicated announcement post.
