The Von Erich family is speaking up to say A24 got it wrong.
In an upcoming episode of “Hollywood Demons” on Investigation Discovery, which airs on Monday, Lacey Von Erich, daughter of Kerry Von Erich (portrayed by Jeremy Allen White), expressed that A24 omitted significant aspects in their portrayal of her wrestler father.
In a sneak peek for ‘Hollywood Demons’ (as reported by The Independent), Lacy Von Erich mentioned that she and her sister weren’t featured in the film as his children, because their father wasn’t depicted with a spouse. This was an important aspect of their father’s life, so seeing him misrepresented in the movie was deeply painful for her.
The movie titled “The Iron Claw” narrates the story of Kerry Von Erich’s motorcycle accident that resulted in the amputation of his foot, his subsequent addiction to painkillers, and eventually his suicide. Notably absent from this account are his wife, Catherine Murray, and their two daughters.
In response to his niece’s criticism, Kevin Von Erich – the real-life counterpart of Zac Efron’s character in “The Iron Claw” – concurred. He stated that his portrayed brother was more family-oriented than what was shown in the movie.
“Kerry in the movie was not a family man, but in real life he was,” he said.
Kevin Von Erich expressed his approval for the movie, but according to Lacey Von Erich, our family wasn’t consulted prior to the A24 drama’s release.
In the movie titled “The Iron Claw,” we find Efron, White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, and Holt McCallany portraying roles. This film delves into the tale of the Von Erichs, an extraordinary family known for their professional wrestling careers that have been marked by heartbreaking events.
