Marvel’s Thunderbolts Movie Breaks MCU Records with Shocking New Rating!

The upcoming Marvel Studios movie titled “Thunderbolts*” is drawing nearer to its premiere, and it’s worth noting that this film’s official rating marks a fascinating trend break in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

In my humble opinion, *Thunderbolts* serves as Marvel Studio’s counterpart to DC’s The Suicide Squad. This film centers around a motley crew of unconventional heroes, banding together to execute covert operations on behalf of the government.

As a fervent fan, I’m genuinely thrilled by the early indications of Marvel’s upcoming film, Thunderbolts. The initial responses from test screenings have been quite favorable, while an early review embargo has only heightened my anticipation for this blockbuster.

Thunderbolts* Receives Specific Warning In Official Rating

According to the Classifications and Ratings Administration (CARA), the movie “Thunderbolts” carries an official rating, and it comes with a cautionary note that might catch you off guard.

The movie titled “Thunderbolts*” carries a rating of PG-13 due to its content containing profanity, mature themes, and innuendos related to suggestive and drug-related topics.

I’ve been assigned a PG-13 rating due to intense scenes of violence, harsh language, deep emotional themes, occasional suggestive content, and subtle references to drugs.

Nevertheless, Thunderbolts stands out due to its “intense violence” rating. This makes it the initial Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film carrying an intense violence warning, a label usually associated with more mature-themed productions.

In the rating description, both Deadpool and Wolverine were given the same caution about “intense gory violence,” even though this movie was categorized as an R-rated film.

Previous Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films classified as PG-13 frequently carried warnings about intense violence or action due to the frequent combat sequences typical of the superhero genre. The fact that Thunderbolts has been given a “strong” violence warning, however, implies that this MCU film might take things to a higher level.

What to Expect From Thunderbolts’ Action

It’s undeniable, through the promotions for Thunderbolts*, that the movie delivers an abundance of thrilling action scenes.

A glimpse into moments where Florence Pugh’s character, Yelena Belova, plummets from a towering building, and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes somersaults a vehicle, suggests an exhilarating array of action sequences and top-notch stunts in the film.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but appreciate the fact that the Thunderbolts team is composed of skilled hand-to-hand fighters. From Yelena to Ghost, US Agent, Red Guardian, Winter Soldier, and even Taskmaster, they all excel in close combat. This suggests some thrilling and intense fight scenes are definitely on the cards!

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled about the arrival of a new formidable antagonist, Sentry, on the big screen. Lewis Pullman’s character seems to possess powers surpassing even those of the Avengers, and the trailers hint at this destructive potential, which only serves to amplify the ominous tone in the film.

Thunderbolts* releases in cinemas on May 2, 2025.
