Now that Dragonstorm for Tarkir has been released, the Magic: The Gathering community is focusing on the upcoming collaboration – the Final Fantasy deck, set to debut on June 13th. Today, Wizards of the Coast unveiled that MagicCon: Vegas (happening a week later from June 20-22) will be heavily centered around Square Enix’s RPG series, offering panels and a unique promotional card as part of the event.
The special event will showcase the “Making of Magic: The Gathering: Final Fantasy” panel, led by Ben Starr – the voice actor for the protagonist Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI. This panel will delve into the creative process behind the collaboration and involve four principal designers involved in the project.

The event will showcase recreations of famous Final Fantasy landscapes, as stated in the official Magic news article, with Midgar explicitly listed among these displays. Additionally, all attendees of MagicCon: Vegas will receive a complimentary Torgal, Clive’s Companion promo card, a reprint of the Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful card showcasing Clive’s lovable canine companion from Final Fantasy XVI.
At PAX East 2025 on May 10th, a two-hour showcase panel dedicated to the Final Fantasy expansion is scheduled. During this event, fans will get a sneak peek of cards from all mainline Final Fantasy games that have been released so far. The lineup for the panel includes the same five individuals as previously mentioned, along with Kenny Omega from All Elite Wrestling who has confirmed his attendance at the PAX East panel.
Magic: The Gathering meets Final Fantasy officially hits local game shops and major retailers on June 13. Pre-release events kick off from June 6 onwards, happening at your friendly neighborhood game stores.
