Apart from Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Ncuti Gatwa, Kate McKinnon, Sunita Mani, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Belinda Bromilow, “The Roses” boasts an impressive cast. The series is produced by Michelle Graham, Ed Sinclair, and Tom Carver, with Benedict Cumberbatch’s production company SunnyMarch also contributing to the production. Alongside Cumberbatch, Adam Ackland and Leah Clarke are the producing partners for SunnyMarch.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Cumberbatch explained that the movie tells a story of two individuals who initially had a deep love for each other, but later developed an equally intense hatred. The film seems to capture a reality many can relate to – the difficulty of expressing love towards those we care about deeply, and how easily things can go awry if we don’t take care to maintain and cultivate the relationships that matter most in our families.

1989 saw the screen adaptation of Adler’s novel by 20th Century Fox, directed by Danny DeVito. Not only did he co-write and star in the movie alongside Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, but his work also gained significant recognition with a BAFTA nomination and three Golden Globe nominations, one of which was for best comedy or musical. The film concluded tragically as the characters portrayed by Turner and Douglas experienced a tragic, disastrous fallout.

“The Roses” arrives in theaters on August 29. Watch the trailer below.
