Apple TV+ has obtained worldwide distribution rights for the documentary, “Come See Me in the Good Light,” which was named the 2025 Sundance Festival Favorite. This captivating film is set to debut on Apple TV+ this autumn.
Director Ryan White’s movie was honored with the audience prize at the Boulder Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, as well as the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, “Find Me in the Soft Focus” is an emotional yet surprisingly humorous tale of love between poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley. This heartfacing narrative unfolds as they bravely confront an inescapable cancer prognosis, met with optimism, humor, and an unbreakable bond. With their infectious laughter and steadfast affection, they convert suffering into a meaningful mission, and mortality into a powerful testament of tenacity.
In the review by EbMaster, it was pointed out that “Come See Me in the Good Light” is strong on the philosophical aspects of existence, but what makes it truly exceptional is the generosity of Gibson and Falley in opening up about their medical struggles. According to Lisa Kennedy’s review, this intimacy creates a sense of proximity that lets viewers spend a year at the poets’ home in Longmont, Colorado; join them on doctor visits and chemotherapy treatments; and even stand by as they contemplate both the trivial and the profound.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I had the privilege of contributing to a project, which was skillfully orchestrated by White, renowned for masterpieces like “Pamela, A Love Story,” “The Keepers,” and “Visible: Out on Television.” This time, I joined forces with Jessica Hargrave, Tig Notaro, and Stef Willen as fellow producers.
The documentary features an exclusive composition penned by award-winning artists Sara Bareilles, Brandi Carlile, and Andrea Gibson, with Bareilles and Carlile themselves performing it.
As a movie buff, I’d put it this way: “I had the pleasure of working alongside some incredible producers on this project. Glennon Doyle, Abby Wambach, Lauren Haber, Joe Lewis, Rachel Eggebeen, Colin King Miller, Catherine Carlile, Brandi Carlile, Susan Yeagley, Kevin Nealon, Galia Gichon, Bareilles, Amanda Doyle, Christi Offutt, Soraida Bedoya, and Melony & Adam Lewis were all part of the team that brought this vision to life.
This year, you can look forward to Apple Original Films such as “F1,” featuring Brad Pitt, which will be released in cinemas on June 27th, and “Fountain of Youth,” an upcoming film directed by Guy Ritchie starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski.
