Remarkable Support Acting in Limited or Anthology Series or TV Film Review (Updated April 10, 2025): Standout performer Owen Cooper from Netflix’s British production “Adolescence” is the anticipated front-runner in this year’s supporting actor (limited) competition – and for valid reasons. Playing the emotionally delicate and erratic teenage son in Stephen Graham’s gripping drama, Cooper offers a performance brimming with depth and vulnerability that is truly noteworthy. At only 15 years old, the young British talent could create Emmy record by being the youngest nominee ever in this category.

At the moment, Scott Jacoby holds the title for the youngest male actor to ever win an award, as he was just 16 when he did so for the 1973 TV movie “That Certain Summer.” Interestingly, Asante Blackk, who was nominated for “When They See Us” in 2019, was only 17 years old at the time. Cooper might have the chance to break both records if he wins, but he’ll face tough competition from his co-star Javier Bardem, who is receiving acclaim for his chilling portrayal in “Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story” on Netflix.

Apart from Cooper, “Adolescence” showcases a commendable supporting role by Ashley Walters. A familiar face on British television, recognized for his work in “Top Boy,” Walters offers a moving, understated portrayal as Luke Bascombe – a detective who is investigating the murder of a young girl.

In the intense Hulu series “La Máquina,” Diego Luna portrays Andy Lujan, a friend and manager to Esteban “La Máquina” Osuna, the boxer. Luna’s questionable character pulls the boxer into the criminal world. Additionally, Luna’s role in the second season of “Andor” on Disney+, which is currently streaming, may boost his popularity among voters.

Emerging actor Rhenzy Feliz shines brightly in the role of Victor, a determined teenager yearning to leave the grimy streets of Gotham on HBO/Max’s “The Penguin.” Performing alongside Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti, Feliz proves his mettle with his powerful emotional depth and smoldering passion.

Renowned for his unique indie style, Jay Duplass delivers a moving performance in “Dying for Sex,” the emotionally intense limited series on FX. This performance has the potential to be compared with that of co-star Michelle Williams, who is currently a strong contender.

This particular category tends to be quite mysterious during this season, with multiple possibilities unfolding. Keep an eye on things closely.
