More recently, I had another opportunity to chat with Tom McKay at the BAFTA Game Awards held in London. During our brief conversation, we discussed the impressive sales figures of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, a game that has been one of the top sellers in 2025 and is likely to be nominated for numerous awards as the year progresses.

As a passionate gamer, I can tell you that after the massive success of the first game, the anticipation for the sequel was sky-high within our studio. We poured all our energy, sweat, and passion into crafting this second masterpiece, taking every minute to ensure we delivered something truly extraordinary. It wasn’t just a game – it was everything we had.

They truly took pride in their creation, confident that they had something valuable, yet it’s always uncertain how others might perceive it. In the end, the true critics are the users themselves, particularly those who play with it.

I must say, the level of enthusiasm, encouragement, and optimism our fans have shown us has been truly astonishing – something none of us expected, including myself.

In recent months, the fan base for Kingdom Come has rapidly expanded. This growth can be attributed in part to the cast and crew’s strong support for their work. Notably, the actor portraying the iconic Hans Capon, Luke Dale, has gained significant popularity by live-streaming the game. As a result, he’s quickly become a sensation, attracting thousands of viewers.

I asked McKay how things had changed since we caught up just after KCD2 was announced to the world.

It feels amazing – it’s like a sort of fever dream, really.

Reflecting on the early days of our initial game, I recall the moment I boarded a flight from Prague, which marked my last tryout and encounter with the main creative crew for the very first time. It seems so distant now, doesn’t it?

As I engage in this captivating discussion about their game, it’s almost surreal – like a vivid dream come to life. Yet, when I reflect on the extraordinary accomplishments and creations of Warhorse Studios, the dreamlike quality fades away. Their unparalleled talent and boundless passion make this collaboration feel perfectly natural and fitting.

Speaking of which, I tip my hat to each and every one of them. After all, it’s their efforts that have brought me to where I am today.

The dev team at Warhorse Studios has an action-packed roadmap lined up, and they’re dropping three expansions this year alone. On top of that, next week, they’re unleashing the Hardcore Mode, packed with a fresh batch of perks to enhance my gaming experience.
