Why Pierre Poilievre’s Rally is the Talk of the Town (and the Internet!)

Guess who showed up? Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, giving his stamp of approval to Poilievre just three weeks before Canada decides who gets to wear the crown (or at least the PM’s office).

Edmonton Goes Wild: Poilievre’s Rally Packs ‘Em In!

In a city that usually dreams of oil rigs and hockey, Edmonton became the epicenter of political drama on Monday. Pierre Poilievre managed to pull in over 15,000 enthusiastic supporters to his biggest rally yet, held in a warehouse that was probably more exciting than it sounds. Who knew politics could be so… warehouse-y? 🏭

Meanwhile, Liberal strategists are scratching their heads, trying to figure out how Mark Carney, the unelected prime minister (yes, that’s a thing), is leading in the polls despite his rally attendance being more like a cozy dinner party—2,000 people in a hotel ballroom south of Vancouver. Talk about a party foul! 🎉

So, here we are at a political crossroads: Poilievre, the pro-crypto, free-market, small-government guy, wants to cut taxes and reduce our dependence on the U.S. (which has gone a bit rogue, let’s be honest). On the flip side, we have Carney, the CBDC-loving globalist who was once Justin Trudeau’s economic advisor. Under Trudeau, Canada’s economy flatlined—maybe that explains Carney’s lackluster crowd? 🤔

But don’t worry, the Canadian mainstream media (which is basically a liberal echo chamber) is here to tell us that Poilievre’s rallies are just a bunch of conservatives talking to themselves. Because, you know, 15,000 people is just a small echo, right? 🙄

“At what point are you just talking in an echo chamber?” asked a reporter, clearly not impressed. “I think it’s pretty broad,” Poilievre shot back. “When was the last time we had a rally that big in Canada?” To which the reporter replied, “I don’t know, I’ve never been to a political rally that big, I don’t think.” Well, there you have it! 😂

A Brief History of Canada’s Record-Breaking Political Rallies

Canada, with its 40 million people, doesn’t usually see rallies with five-figure attendance. Ironically, Pierre Trudeau (yes, Justin’s dad) once drew a whopping 45,000 people in 1968 at Toronto’s Civic Square. That rally was so legendary, it’s still talked about today! According to the National Post, it was “the largest political rally ever.”

But let’s not forget, that was outdoors! Poilievre’s rally was indoors. And while Trudeau senior also packed Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens in 1979 with 18,000 people, he still lost that election. So, maybe size doesn’t matter after all? 🤷‍♀️
