Actress CCH Pounder is set to appear in the “Cape Fear” show on Apple TV+. Morten Tyldum has been brought in to oversee production and direct the initial episode.
Actor Terrence Howard will join the already-announced cast members Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson for this upcoming series. The 10-episode production draws inspiration from both the John D. MacDonald novel “The Executioners,” which served as the foundation for the 1962 Universal Pictures film “Cape Fear” starring Gregory Peck, and the critically acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, featuring Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte in the main roles.
According to the official summary, “In ‘Cape Fear,’ the peacefully married lawyers Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) are about to be confronted by Max Cady (Bardem), a dangerous criminal from their previous experiences, who has been released from prison.
Actress Pounder has been nominated for four Emmy Awards, one for “The X-Files,” another for “The Shield,” a third for “ER,” and a fourth for “The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.” She is also recognized for her roles in series such as “NCIS: New Orleans,” “Sons of Anarchy,” and “Warehouse 13.” On the big screen, she has appeared in films like the “Avatar” series, “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” and “Benny & Joon.
She is repped by Mitchell K. Stubbs & Associates.
Tyldum’s latest venture is directing a project for Apple, having previously directed episodes of the shows “Silo” and “Defending Jacob.” He has directed all episodes of “Defending Jacob” and three so far on “Silo”, while also serving as executive producer for both series. Additionally, Tyldum directed the pilot episodes for “Jack Ryan” at Amazon and “Counterpart” at Starz. Previously, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director for the film “The Imitation Game.
He is represented by several talent agencies, including CAA, Anonymous Content, Black Bear Management, Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, and Goodman Genow.
In “Cape Fear,” both Adams and Bardem will not only star but also serve as executive producers. Nick Antosca takes on the roles of writer, executive producer, and showrunner. Antosca, along with Alex Hedlund, executively produces under their Eat the Cat banner. Additionally, Spielberg and Scorsese will be executive producers too. Spielberg produces via Amblin Television in collaboration with Daryl Frank and Justin Falvey. As previously stated, Tyldum is also an executive producer, along with directing. UCP, where Antosca and Eat the Cat are under a multi-project agreement, will handle production.
