inZOI is not simply „The Sims clone.” Life sim devs prove they’re listening to players by restoring a feature that „adds humor and realism”

So, Krafton’s been talking about their life sim, inZOI, for a while now, and it sounds like they’re really listening to us players! The project director, Kjun Kim, jumped onto the official Discord server recently to talk about what we’ve been saying and hinted at some of the ideas they’re considering adding to the game. It’s cool to see them so engaged with the community!

We received a lot of helpful feedback this week. While it takes effort to sort through everything and reply to everyone, Kim shared that reading your comments is really inspiring for the team.

AI and building

Okay, so everyone’s been talking about that AI building feature, and it’s causing a bit of a split in the community. Some of us are really excited about where it could go, wanting them to really lean into it. Others think the devs should focus on other parts of the game instead. I heard from Kim that they *are* still working on it, but it won’t be a huge priority. Basically, budget and what the team can handle right now are limiting how much they can do with it.

The update also includes enhancements to building tools, including a color picker, wall moldings, and the ability to resize objects.

Gameplay and interactions

Krafton is working on letting players do more at once in the game – they’ll be able to chat, eat, or drink while also doing other activities. The update, which includes a demonstration video of how it all works, should be available by December.

The developers plan to enhance the animations and introduce more activities for groups and families, such as holding hands, taking walks, and carrying babies.

Characters and customization

The team is expanding the options for shoes, and will now include high heels. They’re also adding new hairstyles for male characters. A highly requested feature – the ability to save and share complete character designs (including appearance, personality, and skills) – is also being implemented. Players have been asking for this for a long time, and it was a key feature they felt was missing.

Game world and improvements

Many inZOI players have expressed a desire for self-driving cars and more immersive rides, rather than simply teleporting. Kim revealed that the AI needed to power these cars has been in development for over a year, but creating it is proving technically difficult.

Players responded well to the new calendar and item-collecting system. The developers also announced that seasonal events, like Halloween, won’t be available for a limited time anymore. Once the calendar launches in December, you’ll be able to unlock these events whenever you want.

Game identity

Kim also responded to claims that *inZOI* is just a copy of *The Sims*. He explained that the development team is working hard to make a game that feels distinct, with a strong emphasis on realistic behavior and artificial intelligence.

Other fixes

The development team is working to resolve a bug that prevents saves from functioning correctly after updates. They’re also considering adding more realistic NPC behavior, like letting them marry, have families, and hold jobs, as well as increasing the diversity of characters in the game, including adding characters who use wheelchairs.

Kim announced that the game will once again include the popular “secret farting” feature, after fans requested its return. He explained that it’s meant to be a funny and realistic addition to the gameplay.
