Amazon has officially given the go-ahead for Invincible Season 4, and creator Robert Kirkman is aiming for this show to become an annual event. So, we might see it arrive faster than expected.
To avoid overlooking the approximately two-and-a-half-year break between the initial seasons of Invincible, take note that the creators, including Kirkman, have taken into account your suggestions, and their primary goal is to ensure consistent annual releases of fresh episodes for you.
Following the division of the second season into two halves, all eight episodes from Season 3 were successively launched on Amazon Prime Video over a period of six weeks. Regrettably, the last episode has already been broadcast – and between Invincible’s battle against Conquest and that unexpected Damien Darkblood revelation, what an exciting conclusion it turned out to be!
Now, the wait is on for Season 4, and we have a pretty good idea of when it could be released.
Is there an Invincible Season 4 release date?
The fourth season of Invincible is planned for a 2026 debut, though the specific release date has yet to be announced.
During an interview with TopMob, Kirkman shared that currently their main goal is to consistently advance the show and ensure there’s a sufficient number of episodes completed so it can continue airing regularly.
We’re making the production process more efficient and streamlined as everyone involved in the show continues to learn and adapt, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Ever since Season 2, we’ve been consistently progressing without any significant interruptions, such as a pandemic that caused delays in the past. This is the reason our work seems uninterrupted and likely won’t have a considerable gap compared to previous seasons.
The first season was released in March 2021, the second in November 2023, and the third started in February. Given that two years passed between seasons 2 and 3, it’s reasonable to predict that Season 4 might air in March 2026 since November 2025 is just eight months away from that date.
What will happen in Invincible Season 4?
In all probability, Season 4 of Invincible will continue from Issue 66 and beyond, which implies that we can look forward to Allen the Alien’s and Omni-Man’s space exploits, the arrival of Dinosaurus, and potentially the Viltrumite War.
To clarify, while the television series may not adhere strictly to the comics, it’s worth noting that some elements are unique to the show. For instance, the post-credits scene in Episode 8, set in Hell, introduces a storyline exclusive to the TV series, which could potentially occupy a significant portion of Season 4.
As a devoted fan, I eagerly anticipate moments when the hustle subsides, allowing for some entertaining diversions and brief respites. Here’s hoping that, during this journey, we’ll have the opportunity to engage in some exciting activities – perhaps even a Rex Splode special (fingers crossed!).
The third season covered approximately 15 comics, and since it concludes at Issue #65, it hints that we might witness the Viltrumite War. It’s possible we’ll see the entire storyline unfold, or there could be a dramatic cliffhanger ending.
It’s obvious: Although I can make educated guesses about future events based on the comics (such as knowing Conquest’s fate), I can’t predict exactly what will transpire. Simon Racioppa, one of the show’s co-runners, informed us that they stick closely to the books but also add small twists and unexpected elements, aiming to enrich scenes and keep viewers on their toes.
Season 4 cast and possible new characters
In the upcoming Season 4, Steven Yeun is set to return as Mark Grayson, also known as Invincible, joining forces with Gillian Jacobs portraying Atom Eve and J.K. Simmons embodying Nolan, aka Omni-Man. The ensemble will further include:
- Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson
- Christian Convery as Oliver Grayson
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Conquest
- Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien
- Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman
- Zachary Quinto as Rex Conners/Robot
- Grey Griffin as Amanda/Monster Girl
- Khary Payton as Black Samson
- Jay Pharoah as Bulletproof
- Ben Schwartz as Shapesmith
- Chris Diamantopoulos as Donald Ferguson
- Mark Hamill as Arthur “Art” Rosenbaum
- Eric Bauza as D.A. Sinclair
- Michael Dorn as Battle Beast
- Peter Cullen as Thaedus
- Clancy Brown as General Kregg
It’s expected that Brown will once again play Damien Darkblood in Season 4, with Bruce Campbell set to return as the demon introduced in the Season 3 finale’s closing moments.
In Season 4, Brown might replay his character, Damien Darkblood, while Bruce Campbell may come back as the demon seen at the end of the Season 3 finale.
There’s a chance that we might listen to Tatiana Maslany as Telia, Phil LaMarr as Lucan, and Shantel VanSanten as Anissa once more, contingent upon the direction the narrative takes.
Season 4 is likely to bring in Thragg, the main antagonist from Invincible. While I won’t delve into his specific details, considering how the show has previously cast well-known actors for villain roles, it seems probable that a prominent A-list actor will portray him.
During the chat we had with Kirkman, he wouldn’t reveal whether Thragg had already been chosen for the role. “I can’t share that information with you,” he chuckled instead.
The situation is tricky since we’ve already received approval for Season 4… Whether the actor has been chosen or not gives a clue about what to expect in Season 4. Kirkman couldn’t confirm he hasn’t been, nor could he confirm he has been. Racioppa humorously referred to the casting as “Schrödinger’s casting,” meaning the actor is both cast and not cast simultaneously, until we reveal the outcome.
