Actress Kaitlyn Dever has been added to HBO’s The Last of Us cast for its upcoming season, taking on the character of Abby. Filming for Season 2 is complete and is scheduled to premiere on April 13. Recently, Dever shared her thoughts about her final day on set, but admitted she can’t recall the details.
She shared with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet at the SAG Awards that she “truly can’t recall” the last day they filmed, emphasizing that this is the genuine truth and that HBO hasn’t asked her to keep quiet about Season 2.
She explained that it was an incredibly chaotic period. She felt as if she was drifting through events, to be honest, so her recollection of it is somewhat hazy. (via Bleeding Cool)
Although Dever can’t remember the details of her last day on set, she can assuredly express her delight in collaborating with her co-stars during Season 2.
She expressed that she deeply appreciates the cast, as they are an exceptional team of individuals whom she enjoys collaborating with. It’s heartening to be part of such a project knowing it involves a lovely family, and she finds it truly delightful.
In the storyline of The Last of Us Part II, Abby plays a crucial role. This story serves as the foundation for Season 2 of The Last of Us. However, it’s important to note that Season 2 won’t cover every aspect of the game, as adapting all the events of The Last of Us Part II may require multiple seasons. This could be why actress Bella Ramsey (Dever) is still referring to working with her co-stars for Season 2, even though she has already finished filming Season 2.
Meanwhile, there’s some clarification on the grapevine regarding Season 2. Contrary to a circulating rumor, it was stated by Isabela Merced (Dina from Season 2) that Jeremy Dever required additional security due to Abby’s controversial character. However, Dever himself has come forward to debunk this claim, asserting that the story is nothing more than speculation.
Starting this Sunday, April 13th, The Last of Us Season 2 begins! Joining Pedro Pascal (Ellie) this time around are Danny Ramirez as Manny and Young Mazino as Jesse. Notably, Jeffrey Wright, who originally portrayed Isaac in the game, has now joined the cast, reprising his role for the new season.
Based on HBO’s statement, it’s possible that The Last of Us TV series could span up to four seasons. Since the show won’t delve into any stories beyond the games, fans are speculating whether this could hint at the possibility of a third game in the series, potentially being developed soon. Naughty Dog is currently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and another game, which some suspect could be the long-rumored third installment of The Last of Us.
Upcoming for The Last of Us is the PC launch of the remastered version of The Last of Us Part II, scheduled for April 3, preceding the second season of the series.
