Pokemon TCG Pocket players uncover surprising meta workaround

A single Basic Pokemon can skirt two of TCG Pocket’s most frustrating meta cards.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket has moved deep into the lifespan of its second significant expansion, titled Space-Time Smackdown. Not only did this release come with some amusing glitches, but it also unveiled a wealth of fresh cards for collectors and players to enjoy.

After players have had sufficient time to use these cards, it’s becoming apparent that fresh strategies, or “meta decks,” are emerging. Atop this pile is a Darkrai EX deck which leverages some frustrating barriers that many opponents now view as overbearing.

Luckily, there’s a versatile card that can be integrated into various decks to minimize issues caused by these obstacles. Remarkably, the common Bidoof can dodge the challenges presented by two problematic cards in the game.

Bidoof breaks the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta open

At present, many Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) decks within the Pocket meta are based on starting the game with Druddigon in the active position. Its Rough Skin ability inflicts 20 damage upon any Pokemon that directly attack Druddigon, causing self-harm instead.

Space-Time Showdown unveiled a fresh Tool card called Rocky Helmet. When applied to any Pokemon, it provides an effect similar to Rough Skin. Some cunning opponents may even affix it to Druddigon, causing 40 damage to be inflicted on anyone imprudent enough to attack it.

Reddit user bbressman2 praised the strengths of a small Pokémon called Bidoof, whose Super Fang attack reduces the active opponent’s HP by half. Since the damage originates from Super Fang’s unique ability instead of the move’s own damage values, it doesn’t activate Druddigon or Rocky Helmet’s special abilities.

As a Pokemon without color, Bidoof is effortlessly adaptable to any deck, not altering its energy demands. By employing strategic maneuvers, you can compel your adversaries to remove their crucial figures from fortified defenses, quickly resolving the situation.

Unfortunately, Bidoof doesn’t have the ability to deliver a decisive blow, so you might need to either evolve it into a Bibarrel for the finishing move or change to another Pokemon. As long as the team of Darkrai EX, Druddigon, and Magnezone continues to be problematic in Pokemon TCG Pocket, it’s wise to keep a Bidoof handy as a backup option.
