In the game Destiny 2, the episode titled “Heresy” introduced significant changes to its open world by enhancing existing features and introducing new mechanisms. These updates resulted in one of the most powerful Warlock build designs ever seen in the game.

Unlike Void, Solar, and Prismatic, Arc has been an underutilized subclass by Destiny 2’s space wizards for quite some time now. The last build that was considered meta-viable for this subclass was significantly weakened during 2021’s Season of the Lost due to significant nerfs to Geomag Stabilizers.

Episode Heresy has revitalized the Exotic weapon class, enhancing its Intrinsic properties and providing new functionality to the Chaos Reach Super, making it a valuable choice once again. This improvement also complements an old, rarely-used Exotic Fusion Rifle exceptionally well.

Geomag Stabilizers & Delicate Tomb – A match made in heaven

Before diving into the structure’s functioning details, let me share the revised abilities for Geomags and Delicate Tomb in the Heresy update.

  • Close Enough: Damaging targets with Chaos Reach extends its duration. Collecting Ionic Traces grants you energy for Chaos Reach. Sprinting while near max Bolt Charge will grant stacks over time.
  • Traitor’s Vessel: Fires a wide horizontal spread when shot from the hip. Final blows with this weapon have a chance to generate Ionic Traces. Powerful foes and opposing Guardians always generate Ionic Traces.
  • Tempest Cascade: Collecting an Ionic Trace overcharges this weapon’s next shot, jolting targets on hit.
Geomag Stabilizers and Delicate Tomb are integral to the build due to their incredible synergy.

In this game, the mechanism is straightforward. Collecting Delicate Tombs frequently generates Ionic Traces in large quantities. This mass production directly enhances Geomag’s primary advantage by granting it 7% Super energy every time an Ionic Trace is gathered.

With powerful adversaries ensuring some Traces will appear, and even regular enemies having a chance to generate them as well, the availability of Chaos Reach will significantly increase, though it won’t be perpetual yet. To ensure success, you’ll need to acquire the right Aspects and Fragments.

Aspects & Fragments – S-Tier neutral game

Beyond simply accelerating your Super’s charge, incorporating particular Fragments and Aspects significantly enhances the capabilities of Ionic Traces. This upgrade results in boosted movement speed and enhanced resistance to damage via Amplified effects.

Similarly, Geomags too develop the Bolt Charge – an unique ability for Arc that inflicts a powerful blow when it reaches its maximum charge level. Therefore, utilizing the Ionic Sentry is strongly advised. Here’s what you should gear up with:

Aspects

  • Electrostatic Mind: Defeating targets with Arc abilities or defeating jolted or blinded targets creates an Ionic Trace. Collecting an Ionic Trace makes you amplified.
  • Ionic Sentry: Defeat targets with Kinetic or Arc weapons or Arc abilities to charge up an Arc turret that periodically chains lightning between nearby targets, granting a stack of Bolt Charge with each hit.

Fragments

  • Spark of Beacons: While you are amplified, your Arc Special or Heavy ammo weapon final blows create a blinding explosion.
  • Spark of Shock: Your Arc grenades jolt targets.
  • Spark of Discharge: Arc weapon final blows have a chance to create an Ionic Trace.
  • Spark of Frequency: Melee hits increase your equipped weapon’s reload speed and stability for a short duration.
The Electrostatic Mind and Ionic Sentry Aspects are key components of the build.

These specific elements like the Spark of Beacons and Shock aren’t essential for this construction; you can replace them with your preferred options since they’re not mandatory.

In much the same way, if you’re not fond of Delicate Tomb, Coldheart is another option worth considering because they both produce Ionic Traces. Regarding the Trace Rifle, we haven’t conducted any tests on it yet, so we can’t really compare how it stacks up against Delicate Tomb at this time.
