Kate Winslet Sets Directorial Debut at Netflix With Drama ‘Goodbye June’

Actress Kate Winslet will be stepping into the director’s chair for the first time with “Goodbye June,” a modern-day family story slated for production on Netflix.

Apart from acting as director and producer for the movie, Kate Winslet will also appear on screen, sharing roles with Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and Helen Mirren.

Kate Solomon collaborates with Kate Winslet on this project, with Working Title serving as executive producers. The script for this film was written by Joe Anders, who is Kate Winslet’s son. Set in modern-day England, the story follows a strained family of siblings coming together in challenging and unexpected situations.

The movie production will take place on-site in the United Kingdom towards the end of this year. While Winslet hasn’t directed a film before, she played a significant role in Ellen Kuras’s “Lee,” where she served as both producer and actress portraying American photographer Lee Miller. She has been nominated alongside Solomon for the category of outstanding British film at the BAFTA awards. The news about “Goodbye June” was initially shared by Screendaily.
