Ubisoft, a French corporation, has released their third-quarter financial report for the fiscal year 2024-2025 (October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024). During this period, they saw a substantial decrease in performance.
Ubisoft records losses
Ubisoft earned approximately 318.1 million euros in the third quarter of their fiscal year 2024-2025, which is around 48% lower compared to the same period in the previous year 2022-2023 (606.4 million euros).
During the reviewed nine-month settlement period, the French corporation’s overall income added up to approximately 990 million euros. This represented a decrease of around 31.4% compared to the revenue earned from April 2023 through March 2024 which totaled 1,442,500,000 euros.
It’s worth noting that despite the usual high-earning Christmas and New Year sales, Ubisoft didn’t see a substantial increase in profit during the 2024-2025 fiscal year. By the midpoint of this period, their total earnings amounted to 671.9 million euros. However, this figure represented a 19.6% decrease compared to the previous year, suggesting that the company’s financial difficulties are escalating further.
During the same time period last year, Ubisoft’s revenue from game sales, DLCs, subscriptions, virtual items, and so forth was significantly lower by approximately 52%, with this year’s total being around 301.8 million euros compared to 626.2 million euros a year ago.
During the fiscal year 2024-2025, our company earned a total revenue of 944 million euros, marking a decrease of approximately 34.8% compared to the first three quarters of the previous year (1,448,600,000 euros). Notably, the older games such as Rainbow Six: Siege and the Assassin’s Creed series accounted for 268 million euros in the third quarter, and a cumulative total of 762 million euros over nine months. Among the newer releases, The Crew: Motorfest and AC: Mirage showed strong performance; however, Star Wars: Outlaws was not mentioned in the report.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows pre-orders are “stable”
Ubisoft anticipates that by March 31, 2025, it will more than double its current revenue to approximately 1.9 billion euros. The company is optimistic about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, a game with promising pre-orders, similar in sales to those of AC: Odyssey, the second most successful installment in the series, if only its financial success is considered. AC: Shadows will be released on PC, PS5, and XSX/S on March 20, 2025.
It’s important to note that Ubisoft is seeing positive outcomes as they tighten their financial belt. They aim to cut costs, such as shutting down XDefiant servers and implementing strategic restructuring, which are expected to help the company save over 200 million euros by the end of fiscal year 2024-2025. These cost-saving measures will persist in the upcoming settlement period.
