The only way to proceed is by finishing the main quests available first, and then make your way to Emerald Stair.

Once this matching process is finished, follow the X mark on your map to locate the concealed treasure.

Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret Location In Avowed

In the world of Avowed, instead of purchasing treasure maps from vendors, you stumble upon one called the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret. This hidden gem is nestled inside an abandoned house in Emerald Stair. Upon arriving at this region, follow the dusty path that leads you to a spot east of Coastal Farms. Once there, ascend to the house and step through its door. Inside, you’ll find a luminous painting on an easel. Seize it to activate the Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret side quest in Avowed.

The painting you see lacks text like other maps, but take a peek at the journal on the adjacent couch – it’s titled “Painter’s Regret.” In essence, after the devastating plague, known as the Dreamscourge, swept through the Living Lands, the artist lost their creative spark. Nevertheless, they left behind a paintbrush somewhere, with the hope that its finder might carry on their artistic legacy.

To discover the secret treasure chest indicated in the “Treasure Map – Painter’s Regret” painting, journey southwest from Fior mes Iverno and activate the River Fork Beacon. Then, move northward to spot some small rocks that lead up a hill. Ascend the hill and veer left to uncover the chest. Once opened, seize the Painter’s Brush, an exclusive memento granting a 5% boost to Critical Hit Chance.

To use the Painter’s Brush, navigate to your inventory, then select the Accessories category. Look through the items listed there and click on the Painter’s Brush when you find it. Remember that you can only carry one trinket and two rings at a time.
