Robert Costa has been appointed as CBS News’ primary analyst on Washington affairs and a regular contributor to “CBS Sunday Morning,” signifying a swift advancement for the ex-Washington Post journalist following his inclusion in the news division of Paramount Global in 2022.
As a movie reviewer, I’m thrilled to share my insights about the upcoming role of Costa on “Sunday Morning.” This multi-faceted position encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, from politics to culture and the arts. In his new capacity, Costa will maintain his focus on the dynamic landscape of U.S. politics for CBS News, providing coverage on Congress, the Trump administration, President Trump, and even potential 2028 candidates.
In essence, he’ll serve as our eyes and ears in the world of American politics, keeping us informed and engaged week after week. Stay tuned for an enlightening journey through the political landscape!
Adrienne Roark, CBS News’ president for editorial and newsgathering, revealed his latest tasks on Thursday, along with some other changes concerning the Washington staff within the CBS News operation. There have been whispers of worry among CBS News correspondents who cover Beltway news, following the relocation of “CBS Evening News” from its D.C. location and the subsequent alteration in its format to emphasize national enterprise and issue reporting. The broadcast now dedicates less time to daily news originating from Washington.
Additionally, CBS News unveiled some modifications. Previously in charge of “Face The Nation,” Mary Hager, has been promoted to a senior executive producer role, while retaining her duties as head of politics for all of CBS News. Overseeing the show since 2011, Hager has collaborated with three different hosts. Now, she will be responsible for guiding the future evolution of the program, seeking opportunities to widen its content across various CBS platforms.
Anne Hsu is set to assume the role of executive producer for the television program. Previously, she served as a senior broadcast producer and joined “Face The Nation” in December 2019 following her work on CBS News streaming platforms. In her new position, she will oversee guest booking, production, and content creation for the show’s renowned Sunday broadcast.
Major Garrett has been appointed host of “America Decides,” a streaming news show focusing on Washington politics and the daily political circuit. He will retain his role as CBS News’ top correspondent in Washington, collaborating with senior executive producer Allie Sandza to reinvent this daily program.
