Prepare yourself for another round of milk, as “Babygirl” is being re-released theatrically on Valentine’s Day in the United States!
In this gripping, sensual mystery, Nicole Kidman portrays a high-powered tech executive whose world starts crumbling after she enters into a clandestine relationship with a more youthful colleague from her own company (Harris Dickinson).
The film received a six-and-a-half-minute long standing ovation during its debut at the Venice Film Festival, with Kidman being awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actress thereafter. Additionally, she was recognized by the National Board of Review as the best actress and received a nomination for a Golden Globe.

At its world premiere in Venice, the movie elicited a 6.5-minute standing ovation. Kidman then went on to win the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at this event. She also secured the best actress accolade from the National Board of Review and received a nomination for a Golden Globe.
Directed and produced by Halina Reijn, the movie has earned over $50 million worldwide, as reported by A24. The international market contributed $22.6 million, while domestic sales accounted for $27.4 million. If “Babygirl” manages to earn an additional $28 million in the U.S., Nicole Kidman’s total box office earnings from domestic releases will exceed $2.5 billion.
Rounding out the cast are Antonio Banderas, Esther Rose McGregor, Sophie Wilde and Izabel Mar.
“Babygirl” was originally released during the holidays.
The movie prompted numerous instances on social media where people mimicked Emily Dickinson’s dance to “Father Figure” by George Michael, and fans also snapped selfies imitating Nicole Kidman’s pose, standing in a corner and lying down on the floor.
In October, Dickinson discussed the idea of having an intimacy consultant for his and Kidman’s explicit scenes with EbMaster. He explained, “We’d have a conversation with the intimacy consultant, and then Nicole and I would essentially take it from there once we established the boundaries of what we were both at ease with. The role of the intimacy coordinator is to ask about comfort levels, directorial preferences, and vision, and they help facilitate this while being mindful not to disrupt the actual scene.
As a cinema aficionado, I’d say my experience working on “Babygirl” was nothing short of a rollercoaster. The challenge lay in ensuring the film’s raw essence was portrayed authentically day in and day out, opening myself up completely to delve into the characters and scenes. The unique nature of this movie demanded either absolute vulnerability or protective distance; otherwise, the connection would be lost. When I sat down with director Halina, discussing our roles, I simply asked for a secure environment where I could lay bare my emotions without fearing embarrassment.
