Retailer Staff Expose Shocking Scalping Scandal Over Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions!

It’s been reported that a retailer is facing criticism from their own team for raising the costs of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Prismatic Evolutions expansion set.

Whenever a fresh Pokémon Trading Card Game collection hits the market, it’s never short of an intense competition. And the latest Prismatic Evolutions have certainly followed suit, with players going head-to-head in exciting matches!

On February 7, 2025, the newly released card collection was dropped and sold out immediately, causing stores to implement precautionary measures during launch to prevent chaos. The scarcity of these cards worldwide sparked widespread excitement, an issue that Pokemon Company acknowledged directly. Fans continue their global quest to obtain this latest collection.

Consequently, one retailer has seized the opportunity presented by increased demand. Critics allege that they are engaging in “reselling at inflated prices,” or scalping, their customers. However, let me explain how they’ve managed to do so.

Retailer exposed by staff for “scalping” Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions cards

As per a report by Eurogamer, it appears that UK retailer GAME is compelling its customers to cover the additional costs of “oversized delivery,” causing the price of the Prismatic Evolutions set to nearly triple.

As a passionate gamer eagerly waiting to get my hands on the latest game set, I’ve been keeping a close eye on their pre-orders. They’ve reassured us that new stock is on the way, but here’s the catch – you can’t just pop in and grab it. Instead, there’s an extra $25 USD shipping fee to contend with when ordering online.

Generally, this retailer provides various shipping methods such as standard, in-store pickup, or next-day delivery for most products. However, when it comes to purchasing Prismatic Evolutions mini tins from GAME, customers are required to pay for oversized items even though the product is about the size of a smartphone.

As a devoted fan, I’ve found myself in a frustrating situation lately. The team mentioned that they’ve been grappling with irate customers storming into the store, believing they could purchase the Prismatic Evolutions expansion straight off the shelves. However, GAME strategically decided not to place these products on the floor, aiming instead to make us, the customers, shoulder an extra cost for delivery.

According to a team member who spoke with Eurogamer, there’s a consistent pattern of being subjected to harsh treatment, both from clients and internally within the company.

In other words, when employees inquired if an action taken by the company was a mistake, the management reportedly denied this claim without offering any additional clarification.

As I write this, GAME hasn’t responded to the accusations yet, but I’ll make sure to inform you as soon as there’s an update.
