For the first time in nearly three decades, the classic MMORPG, Tibia, will introduce a new character class. This fresh addition, known as the Monk, is set to join the original four classes: Sorcerer, Paladin, Druid, and Knight, which were introduced with the game’s release in 1997. Developer CipSoft has made this announcement about the long-running 2D top-down MMO.
In an exciting update, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the Monk character in Tibia! A blend of combat and support, this newcomer will not only engage in fierce melee battles but also lend a helping hand by healing my allies. CipSoft hints that the Monk can be played uniquely, ensuring a harmonious fit within Tibia’s existing world and class system. The development team aimed to introduce a melee healer that wouldn’t step on the toes of other roles, such as debuffing, already occupied by the Paladin and Sorcerers.
CipSoft stated that one key objective was to establish the new profession distinctively, without diminishing or making existing ones irrelevant. They’re thrilled about the introduction of the Monk and can’t wait for everyone to see them in action!
The Monk character will incorporate several distinctive mechanisms: Harmony, Virtue, and Tranquility systems. Performing particular attacks increases Harmony, which can later be utilized to significantly amplify the Monk’s strength. Virtues are potent enhancements that the Monk can selectively activate. In a state of calm, the Monk will become notably more powerful, but this state can only be achieved when playing alone or if there are six or fewer monsters in close proximity. CipSoft stated that the Tranquility system is designed to make Monks strong in specific scenarios when calm, yet their power won’t exceed the damage output of other classes or the Knight’s tanking abilities when not in a calm state.
Over the next few days and weeks, CipSoft plans to publish five blog posts that delve into the design and creation of the Monk character. The release date for playing the Monk has not been specified yet, but CipSoft hinted it would be available later in the year. If you’re eager to try out the new class, mark your calendars for February 25 as that’s when testing will begin!
In simpler terms, you can play Tibia for free, but if you choose to pay for a premium subscription, it offers advantages such as experience point increase, access to additional game zones, home purchasing options, and other perks.
